Cape Air and the IFAW (International Fund for Animal Welfare) have teamed up to sponsor a flight around the continental United States to help promote awareness towards whales and the increase in international whaling over the past few decades. The plane being used for the flight is Cape Air N69SC which has been painted in a whale motif by airbrush artists Jürek. The plane left Cape Air's home base of Hyannis, MA several days ago and will make stops in over a dozen cities including Boston, New York, Washington, San Francisco and more before reaching it's final destination of Anchorage, AL later this month. On arrival in Alaska the passengers (comprised of members of the IFAW, a photographer, a videographer and publicists) will attend the monthly meeting of the International Whale Commission. A press conference for the flight was held out on the Cape Air ramp in Boston on Thursday and the plane set out for La Guardia early yesterday morning. More information on the flight can be found at www.ifaw.org.
