I am traveling to Ternate in North Maluku in January. I have been trying to figure out what is the best way to get there but I am having trouble with the websites for the Indonesian airlines. I seem to have to fly via Manado.

Can I fly direct to Manado from the Philippines which is where I will be? I saw that Merpati had a link on their route map from Davao to Manado but I'm not sure if that is still running? It seems crazy to go to Singapore or Jakarta to get to Manado when I am in the Philippines.

Are there any airlines I should steer clear of?

How can I make bookings on the Indonesian airlines websites? I can't seem to get that part of the website to work? Is there another way?

Is anyone able to help me in my plans?

Thanks for your help!

Unfortunately, Garuda is the most reliable because everything jst goes downhill from there. Unfortunately, almost all airlines in Indonesia op out of Jakarta so you just might have to make that long trip.

I'm afraid that your best option is to fly to Manado via Singapore. Bouraq Airlines (have ceased operating) used to fly to Davao from Manado years ago.
