Quoting DAL767400ER (Reply 2): What kind of market is there supposed to be at or around MLB that warrants a weekly flight to Berlin?
It is a charter flight so the risk is on M-Touristik to get passengers for that flight. Maybe they figure that now AB can be a feeder for LTU in TXL and Florida is still a popular vacation spot for German tourists.
It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

MLB not only has some great beches (Cocoa beach being among one of my favorites) but it also has the KSC visitors center to the north which is one fo the large toruist attractions on the east coast of florida. I flew out fo there on USAIR once (before thy dropped it) and found it to be a very nice terminal with a floor that gradually sloops up to the gate areas (so there is no need for escalators, elevators, or stairs).

The full story:
Melbourne International is spending $500,000 to get the charter flights, as well as waiving an estimated $115,000 in fees and charges for a year.
Figuring conservatively on 200 passengers a week from Germany to Melbourne for the November through April period, Ennis estimated that at least $6 million would be injected into the local economy in the first season alone.

Does anyone know if M-Touristik AG is also planning tourist packages that will include hotels and trips to KSC? I'm not sure what tourist will do in Melbourne during the winter. You might get some nice beach days, but the water will be cold.

Oh, I am sure they will include KSC in some fashion. Disney day trips will also be incorporated. Fishing, surfing, etc. Casino boat out of the Cape. Maybe some of the tourists will grab a cruise also.
I just want to be a baggage handler for these flights.

Quoting Luisca (Reply 19): If you can get a ticket, it used to be you could park your cars there with a free ticket, thanks osama.
I've viewed several launches. Used to be one of the good things about living on the Space Coast.
But I think Osama is just an excuse - they could charge a "parking fee" of something reasonable, like $5 or even $10 and provide the bus if Osama really was the problem. Instead they charge like it's Disney, to see stuff our tax dollars have long ago already paid for.
Quoting Mir (Reply 20): There are plenty of places that don't charge.
Yes, I know, but the NASA causeway is one of the better spots.
I don't think it's right to charge theme park prices for something that is already paid for by the tax-payers. A nominal fee to cover expenses, sure, but this is ridiculous.
25 MIAMIx707: Didn't Spirt also serve MLB in the 90's? How about USAIR? I remember seen a Spirit MD80 there once and while driving on I95 saw a USAir MD80 on final

37 Floridaflyboy: There's an Amerijet 727 at DAB as well as some old propliners.
