Finaly after 18 months of work today it was the big inaguration of Cancuns new T3...
With the president of Mexico as the first guest, and thousends of invitades, one lucky one was me... Today the T3 is formaly open...
Its very nice and big, but it looks more like a mall then an airport terminal.
You can found inside 2 Starbook cafe, One Margarita Ville, One Buba and Gump, a enormus duty free, lots of shops and many restaurants in one food court like in a mall...
But the gates, security points, baggage controls, imigration and customs are very big and hope they work fast and good...
I dint bring a camera cause the security reasons, but i hope soon I get some pics and put it on the ANet...
Hope this new terminal brings millons of visitors to Cancun and the Riviera Maya, cause all are very welcome...
 Big grin

If it looks like a mall Americans will love it. Cancun is more American than Miami. Pics?

Does this terminal have the US preclearance in it? It is still going to happen isn't it? I haven't heard anything concerning the preclearance in what seems like a year.

Interesting, when I was at CUN in November, I didn't notice any construction going on for this terminal. However its still good to hear and I can't wait to see the pics.

Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

That's the biggest issue. Whenever I talk to people that visited CUN, that's always the first thing they complain about. I wouldn't know, I'm a corporate pilot, I go to the FBO.

Cun757, I found this article today, how is the 2nd runway working out???

CANCUN, Mexico, May 17 (Reuters) - Mexican airport operator Asur (ASURB.MX: Quote, Profile , Research)(ASR.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said on Thursday it will invest $56 million to build a second runway at its airport in the Cancun Caribbean resort region.

The runway should be ready by 2009 and will allow 80 takeoffs or landings per hour at the airport, Asur Chairman Jaime Chico Pardo told reporters.

Asur operates nine airports in southern Mexico, of which Cancun, popular with foreign vacationers, is by far its busiest.

Asur is also expected to bid for the right to build and operate a planned airport in the fast-developing nearby Riviera Maya vacation zone, which includes Playa del Carmen. ($1 = 10.8030 pesos)

Per US Customs website there are no preclearance airports in Mexico

Well they start also the last year and now starts to lok like there is going to be a runway... I have also a pic... hope its fine.
Asur says that is going to be ready by the end of 2008... the runway is in the other side of the airport, I mean when you come inside the airport by car, is on the right hand... Its going to conect the actual airport with one bridge for the planes...

Yes is bad, but some times is much beter then Miami for example...
Never mind, yesturday I saw a very big area for the check in points and also for costums and baggage claim...

I know there isn't now but there was talk of getting them a year or two back, starting with cancun. Just wondering what ever happened with this?
