According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Iran Air will start flying to BRU. Iran Air will operate 2 !!! flights a month, one nonstop and the other will be routed via Cologne. Flights will be operated with an A300.
Any other airlines out there that have such a ridiculously low frequency scheduled? Anyhow, nice to see IR starting operations to BRU. 2007 really seems to be the year of BRU's revival.

Quoting SNBru (Reply 3): Which other European countries have Iran Air flights scheduled?
IR operates a daily THR-AMS flight, usually by A300-600R's, although sometimes we see the A310 as well.
I don't know if IR will give an option to the Belgium passengers to return via AMS, and AMS-BRU by train (regular fasttrain or High Speed Thalys). The last option is done by some other airlines as well.
Good for BRU though. After Jet Airways another new carrier

Quoting SNBru (Reply 3): Which passengers will buy a retour ticket with this inflexible schedule?
Almost all of them - Iranians going home for a fortnight in summer. I think this offers plenty of frequency for the market it's designed to serve.
Quoting Swissgabe (Reply 1): The only scheduled which comes into my mind would be SU which has a twice monthly schedule between SVO and LAD.
Ah yes, well back in the Cold War days and into the 90s, Aeroflot did a lot of twice-a-month flying all over Africa, these multi-stop Tu154s to places like Senegal and Chad. Mostly an instrument of foreign policy but carrying African students to the Patrice Lumumba uni in Moscow as well.
Quoting BrightCedars (Reply 6): If part of PIA's fleet was banned, it can't be too long until IR suffers a similar faith.
I dunno, I think they're OK actually. They can get parts, and have very high maintanence standards. I've done plenty of flying with IR, both domestic (F100s, 727s) and international (747-100, -200, SP). Always on time, aircraft always spotless. I don't know why PIA couldn't keep it together, it's not as though they have to contend with sanctions. It must be poor management and / or a lack of safety culture. IR's management I can't speak for, but they run a good operation all over Europe and Asia, not to mention the well-publicised flights to S America, no mean feat for any airline.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I can list ten major airlines that have similar amount of frequencies to various destinations around the world some even operate just once a week to places, its quite normal in most countries, I dont understand the surprise.
Infact he comments and recation regarding low frequency in relation to this service being discussed here and at another forum is mind boggling, more so keeping in mind its Iran Air and Tehran/Iran we are talking about, they are not aiming to become Emirates nor Dubai/UAE.

I'm not sure you read the thread starter well. He said twice per MONTH. Not twice a week.
BTW, it seems there's confusion over the frequency. The Iranian press report indeed said the flight would be two times per month, but other sources, like www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl are reporting it will be two flight per week...

According http://www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl/ it seems one of the weekly flight will be a direct one and the other one will make a stop at Koln (Germany). Could be great to book a Koln-Brussels flight on an Iran Air A-300-600!!
