Question about the long-haul operations of UK charter airlines

  • When are JMC retiring their DC-10's?
  • When are Airtours getting more A330's?
  • When are Monarch getting any other Long Haul aircraft, and when is their DC-10 being converted to a freighter?
  • I am traveling LGW-Paphos (Cyprus) as the busy Easter time next year, any chance I may get an A300 or A330?

Thanks for all you help in advance

1.jmc are retiring their DC-10s for the next summer season, when they should have their 767s(I think)maybe A330s.

2.Airtours, to my knowledge arn't getting any more A330s, they have around 10ish DC-10-10's arriving from Premiair, as Premiair are getting new A330s.I dont think Airtours a will purchase any more aircraft until their financial future is secure, and they have found a buyer(notice no one has gone near them with a 10 foot Bardge pole-I wonder why!)

3.I am not certain on this,I didn't know the MON DC-10s were going to be freighters, I presume for the summer season.

4.I think you may get a 757 or A300, A330s are usually used on longer routes,
In October, the A300 fleet was flying to Faro every sunday.so you might get an A300.

    Hope this helps

The first DC-10 is being retired on the 9th of Jan 2001 and is being replaced by a damp leased 767-300 from Britannia which is due 6th May. the first A330 is due in November 5th.

The remaining DC-10 is to be operating a limited summer schedule, 3 rotations per week and used as a back up aircraft, the 7676 to do 6 rotations per week.

The second A330 is due in March 2002, to coincide with this JMC are looking at relaunching the entire uniform brand.

The A330's are being configured the same as Airtours I believe, with a premium cabin and the toilets downstairs although this had not been confirmed yet.

Only two have been ordered and they have been leased. They originally wanted the 767-400ERX but it isn't ready in time so they went for the leased A330. Rumour has it that they are still thinking of replacing the A320's with NG737-800's as they seem to prefer an all boeing fleet. The A320's were inherited from Airworld and Caledonian Airways.

UK FLY- Could you explain what you mean by JMC relaunching their entire uniform brand please. Do you mean new name, new livery etc?

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

I think they were evaluating having a change of uniform in 2002 so they remain fresh.
    Not a new Livery

OK. Call me stupid but do you mean clothes or is 'uniform' meaning something else?
