I traveled from ICN to SFO on United on 20MAY and I couldn’t help notice an ANA A320 with an extra hold area. Normally you would find on B777, B747, A340, etc types of aircraft. Why on A320? I’ve only notice that extra hold on ANA and not any other carriers.

Some carriers prefer having two aft cargo doors to speed turns. Some carriers containerize thru the main aft door and use the little door for small articles and last minute bags. The 727-200 series was also offered with either a single or dual aft door. Why didn't everyone? one more door adds weight, blocks cargo space with additional net restraints, and is one more maintenance issue if they go bad.
