Last night (May 25 2007) my flight was delayed from YQT to YYZ because according to the gate agent "an aircraft was stranded on one of the runways at YYZ". Can anyone confirm this and explain what happened? The use of the word stranded just seemed a little extreme to me.

I was working at yyz, was a normal night to me. Sometimes I guess you just run out of excuses so you make one up, and this was obviously a good one!...

I never trust tha agents, I know they have to lie, because they may not know the truth, or the truth might piss off the passengers (like lack of manpower). However I understand that its not their fault and there is not much they can do, so rather than release my anger at them I just keep my cool, and be polite. If you want things to chage, dont fly with that airline anymore.

AC A330 rejected T/O due lost tread on main wheel, then blew a few more tires during the reject. RWY 23 closed for an hour or so.

Yes - (although it seems not to have been the case here), most of my delays lately have been because the airline cannot handle minor weather setbacks, etc., because of lack of manpower. They have much less ability to bounce back from small snags, and these problems become drawn out.

It's compounded by how the A/C are more full and its much more difficult to reaccomodate, PLUS there is such high staff turnover that many ground staff seem to not know how to reissue tickets, put people on different flights, etc. It seems also that the RULES are more stringent, and they aren't allowed to adjust for a WX or MX delay to reroute me because the class of service doesn't allow it.

It's all deteriorated so badly. Service is GONE.

(Sorry to steal the thread, if that's what I've done...)

I come in peace

Dont get me wrong, I dont want anyone here to flame on an agent saying "I know that you are lieing" But its just that the average passenger will not accept the truth as a good excuse. So its easy to delay a flight due to maintainance and weather, but not so easy to tell 200 passengers they wont get their bags because their is no one to throw them into the system, so you make something up (broken equipment works very well, but only for about 15 min).

SOOO, if you dont like the service, fly an airline who will provide you with the service you deserve, thats all I can suggest. Its sad how customer service is not a priority in almost every industry these days, not just the airlines.
