900 ex-pat staff have applied for positions with other Gulf carriers.

320 pilots out of a total of 506 have applied for new jobs.

The exodus has started so we can expect even MORE delays or flight cancellations - if GF survive.

Wow it's s really sad that this is happening. I know as humans we have to look out for number one first but to see an exodus on this scale is sad. Should this mass migration go through we could very well be seeing the begining of the end for GF, or at least the GF we knew.

If this does indeed happen I doubt the governemnt of Bahrain, despite it's super deep pockets will take significant action. That would leave the regions giants to come snack on the remains. Would it not be a full circle moment if the Qatar gov who left GF were to rturn around and acquire it through QR.

I don't think it would need any monies to change hands as QR, EK or EY would just snap up the passengers and cargo as there would be no other option for Bahrain based people if GF goes belly up. It's all good PR stating that they are buying new aircraft but without the crews it's a pointless exercise.

The ironic thing is that the Bahrain government , GF's new owners, announced a budget surplus of BD141,588,000 (US$375,576,601) for 2006. http://www.gulf-daily-news.com/Story...ticle=183383&Sn=BNEW&IssueID=30069

From the article....

"They are directly offered the position of pilots and not that of first officer."

I thought that a first officer was a pilot? Oh well you learn something new everyday.

By pilot they mean PIC designate, therefore captain. No need to be a smarty pants.
