I was looking at the "Top Photo" of today which was of the Dreamlifter and I noticed a "mini-wing" on the top of the fuselage about 3/4 way back. I checked out other photos, but didn't see it there. Is it new? Did they add this after flying around a bunch and realizing they needed extra lift?

Actually, now that I look at it. It seems all the photos that have these "mini-wings" on them are on the right side of the aircraft (or left, depending on how you look at it  Wink )

They are hinges for opening her rear end

If your referring to the bumps on the fuselage, they are hinges that open the back of the aircraft enabling it to swing open. That's how the 787 parts get in the aircraft.

Those are not mini wings but simply the swing tail actuators!

I'm not sure what are you talking about, I don't see any "mini-wing" on either side... I think you should double check a picture carefully next time..... the only thing that seems to be somewhat close to the direction you're talking about are the two fuselage hinges that are placed on the side to secure the swing tail, which wide opens to the left (if you look at the plane from behind).... is that what're you talking about? If that it's so, those are not wings, but again, the big swing tail hinges...

SuseJ772, Smokeyrosco makes sense. If you look at the above, the photos without the 'mini wings' are taken when the aircraft is travelling from left to right. The photos with the mini wings are taken whilst the a/c is travelling form right to left.
This makes sense as in these would be the hinges where the rear end would open up

sides of aircraft, boats, trains, cars and whatever are always seen from the direction of travel
