Does CO still fly any mainline services to STL? I ask because for the last few years I have not seen any CO mainline equipment at STL just RJs. I always fly NW but I will walk around A concourse and see what is happening. I see UA, NW, US, and DL main line planes, but none for CO.

They haven't flown mainline jets for at least 2 years if I remember correctly. I think they dropped mainline flights after 9-11 and then brought one mainline flight back maybe 2 years ago which didn't last long.

I'm surprised that they can't put at least 1 daily 735 to EWR to connect to the European bank (like IND has for example) and for the decent O&D between NYC and STL.

I dont think Newark should get the mainline. STL-EWR isnt usually that busy its the STL-IAH that needs it. There are a lot of flights a day to IAH all on 50 seaters and they are always full and always bumping bags.

Yeah, a 777 to IAH sounds perfect to me, seriously tho, I agree, a 735 or 73G would be excellent. These are the types of problems you run into without a viable 70-seater. CO's fleet goes from 50 seats to 100, nothing in between. It's doubtful STL will see any mainline anytime soon, but it would sure be nice. Speaking of STL, does anyone know where the AA Connection prop service will be when it restarts? I see that Airtran has had a gate installed in concourse B which partially blocks the ramp area that was used by Regions.

BNA no longer sees their mainline service as well. Instead, we are forced to deal with 18 flights a day on their tuna can jets, the E145's. Joy. Whoopee. LOL!

Hard to believe that STL doesn't have CO mainline anymore. STL has mainline from the other legacies; NW, AA, DL, UA, and US. WN isn't a legacy, but they were around before 1978 so that kind of makes them old school by today's standard. WN has a nice operation at STL. You would think CO would have at least a couple of mainline flights. Does CO not serve any other cities the size of St. Louis?

Continental had one 737-500 operating the EWR-STL and STL-EWR route, alongside the RJ's. I flew one in 2000. The flight was completely empty in both directions and this was in October and during the week. Granted, the EWR hub was not as huge then as it is now, but it was still quite significant.

IAH also had one 737-500.

Come to think of it, we are practically being downgraded instead  Sad

Since CHQ is replacing some expressjet flying here, that means we are going from about 9 ERJ 145 movements each way (IAH-AMA and AMA-IAH) to 6 ERJ movements and 3 CRJS  pessimist . oh well.

Very. You would think their would be a lot more demand on such a route (STL-IAH for example)

Any idea on what I can expect CO CLE-STL on June 11, returning June 13?

I believe my flight TO STL is on Chautaqua. They are wearing the CO Express livery right?

Are the flights to/from CLE usually pretty full?

I find it pretty amazing that I am scheduled on a mainline CO flight from IAH-OMA in late June...and they don't have mainline to STL, which I perceive as a more major city.

Most of our (Chautauqua) 145s for CO are in full CO colors but there are a few "spares" with a blue tail. I have yet to do a CLE flight but CO seems to sure pack em in. I am working some CLE-STL next month maybe we will see ya on board.

There are plenty of cities that have plentiful mainline from other carriers but none from CO. Look at places like CLT, MKE, and BNA for instance. While they are all smaller than St. Louis, each has significant service from at least one other carrier and several legacies that are all mainline.

Surprisingly enough, Cleveland does significantly better load wise than both Houston and Newark. My sister uses it quite a bit for NationalCity running back and forth between St. Louis and Cleveland. It would surprise me if they ever put mainline on it though; most cities from Cleveland don't get mainline unless they are top 10-12 markets.

Continental just doesn't have much invested in St. Louis and it appears they intend to keep it that way. So be it...

Well I just completed my RT on CO CLE-STL. I think the flight down there had maybe 1 or 2 seats open and the flight up was oversold. They were offering $150 toward a future flight. I felt I would hold out for more but enough people took them up on the $150.

None the less I wanted to point out how full the plane was, but my fare was very cheap so I imagine others were as well. Competing with WN on CLE-STL will do that to you I guess.  Smile
