Hiya,

Was wondering if the first BCF of Air France has been ID't yet.

Did a search on the web and found zero info regarding this....

Thanks, Chris.

There's another thread about this with a nice link to Boeing:

The first 747BCF is F-GISA , which has been converted at Xiamen by TAECO.

Then F-GISB which will be redelivered as BCF in August

Last one will be F-GISE , which will be BCF converted before yearend.

Keep in mind that these 747BCFs are only interim measure to replace the last 747-200Fs , before to be replaced (as all 747-400ERFs) by 777Fs.

This mean that the 747 will deseappear forever in the Air France fleet in a not so distant future.

I don´t think the 747-400ERFs will be replaced by 777Fs, AF didn´t say so, at least I always read that the 777Fs are meant to replace the the 742Fs and as expansion. 777Fs don´t have the capacity to replace 747Fs in general.

What is going to happen to their remaining 744 pax fleet after 2008? Will they be pahsed out of pax service and converted to freighters at the same pace as the 77Ws are delivered?
I believe AF have at least 3 fairly new 744 that should still have many years of useful pax service.

These 3 aircraft buitlt in 2002/03 are leased for 10 or 12 years so they won´t leave the fleet anytime soon.
