Which Monarch Aircraft Will This Be?

Leaving to Sharm El Sheikh in July, just wondering if anyone knew which aircraft type they were using on the route. Its a Sunday departure at 09:00.

Nice never been on one would make a nice change. When i was there in January i saw a 757 on the ground but don't know where this came from so was just curious.

Monarch have actually been an A300 down at LGW for the past month or so, and many flights are having to be split between two smaller aircraft, and not necessarily Monarch aircraft either. It is scheduled to be an A300, however things may change.

Had you been booked on the 10:15 flight, you'd be on the A330.

Us up at Manchester tend to suffer with the flight split, we had a CFU flight, scheduled to be an A300, had to be split in a 757 and Flightline MD80, and the flight the 757 was scheduled to do was covered by an Air Italy 757.

Last summer the LXR flights were split into an A320 and 757, 757 most of the time from Titan.

I had to wash the Titan 757 (G-ZAPX) in STN 2 months ago and it was rotten!!!!!

Titan have been operating a lot of the Gatwick flights too. When shorter flights are split, they are usually split into a 757 and a Titan 737. The longer flights, such as SSH are using 2 757's.

We've had a EuroAtlantic 757 and a BMI A321 pretty much perminantly based over the past few weeks or so, operating split flights and also covering for the late entry into service of the ex-BMI A321's. On top of that, from what i can remember, Mytravel, Air Italy, Girjet and Titan have also operated odd replacement charters for them. The long haul aircraft have also had to cover many of the flights they wouldn't normally operate.

I thought I caught a BMI A321 go past the other day on an 08R departure and assumed it would be opping for MON. I've also been noticing a lot more MON 757's departing than usual, including that special liveried one for the clubbers.

The 767-300 is their international aircraft, the 757 not. The 763, I think don't quote me, with Thomson had 30 inches legroom before the re-fit, the 75's have 28.

Shouldn't have a problem, the Taba flights tend to be operated by the 'ER' aircraft (G-MONJ/K), and therefore aren't usually affected, and with any luck they'll be operating all flights under their own metal by July anyway.

If you're referring to TOM's 763s then they are used on both short-haul and long-haul, but configured differently to suit. ZB's 763 seems to be on long-haul mostly but on the occasional short/medium haul flight.

I believe that all of ZB's 757s are to be in charter config this Summer so I doubt they'll have extra legroom.

I'm expecting an A321 on both of these flights but wanted to make sure of it.

Charter carriers try and keep their fleet in the air for as long as possible by having very tightly packed schedules, the more flights they make, the more money the airline gets (the airline gets the money for operating the flight even if its almost empty as it is 'chartered' from a tour operator). Unfortunatly when an aircraft goes tech the schedules start to go to pot, aircraft may be jiggled around in an effort to keep everything running as smooth as possible and keeping delays to a minimum but they just can't afford to have an aircraft sat around as a back up, although sometimes an aircraft will have say a few hours downtime in which it can cover for another aircraft. Some airlines have spare aircraft (or at least aircraft which are not currently doing anything) and they will get a call from an airline in need and they will send one of their own aircraft out. I've operated numerous "subcharters" myself, almost all of them were arranged several hours to days in advance (so the delay is almost none existent because the airline knew they were going to have a problem - like the aircraft arrives with a fault which will take hours to repair).

Glad to see Monarch are still working those 757s hard  Smile

You can see then why airlines like Titan do so well. They obviously buy aircraft that are needed to cover the charter airlines. I believe they get there 767 next year not sure of what type though but i'm sure it'll fit nicely into the charter airlines fleet if needed.
