Breakdown Of DHL's Fleet

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find the breakdown of DHL's fleet? It can be in print or online, I just have no idea where to look anymore, after trying Google way too long. I don't need it to be perfect, just an approximate number of each aircraft type. It can also just be the US fleet.

Thanks,

Jeremy

757s and 767s as well as older A300s and I think they still have some Dc 8s.
DHL also owns Airborn Express so they might also have some Dc 9s in their fleet.
DHL just recently ordered additional 767s.

It will forever be a McDonnell Douglas MD 80 , Boeing MD 80 sounds so wrong

These carriers are owned and controlled by DHL Worldwide Express, its parent company or one of its affiliates (eg DHL Aviation).

Asian Express Airlines (Australia)
1 727-200

Blue Dart Aviation (India)
5 737-200
2 757-200

DHL Aero Expresso (Panama)
4 727-200

DHL Air (UK)
20 757-200

DHL Angola (Angola)
(no fleet details)

DHL de Guatemala (Guatemala)
(no fleet details)

DHL Ecuador (Ecuador)
1 ATR72

DHL International (UAE)
6 727-200

European Air Transport (Belgium)
11 757-200
14 A300B4

Solinair (Slovenia)
(no fleet details)

The following carriers provide lift for but are not controlled by DHL or its parent company (DHL does have a minority stake in some though). These carriers are free to contract with others as well, but the bulk of their freight revenue comes from DHL and many (most) of their planes are in DHL livery.

ABX Air (USA)
42 767-200
24 DC9-30
25 DC9-40

Air Hong Kong (China)
8 A300-600F

Astar Air Cargo (USA)
29 727-200
6 A300B4

Swiftair (Spain)
1 727-200
1 A300B4 (leased from EAT)
5 ATR42
4 ATR72
(This list does not include Swiftair’s passenger aircraft)

Vensecar International (Venezuela)
1 727-100
2 727-200
2 ATR42

These carriers operate dedicated DHL flights, but in their own livery and DHL is just one of many customers.

Ada Air (Albania)
Amerijet (USA)
Atlas Air (USA)
CargoJet Airways (Canada)
Gemini (USA)
Japan Airlines (Japan)
Lufthansa Cargo (Germany)
Martinaire (USA)
Merlin Airways (USA)
Northwest Airlines (USA)
Skyway Enterprise (USA)
Trade Air (Croatia)
Transcarga (Venezuela)
Transmile Air Services (Malaysia)
West Air Sweden (Sweden)

Finally, I believe there is also a Nordic carrier operating flights on behalf of DHL in DHL livery (I want to say Maersk but I think they fly for UPS in Europe) and World Airways used to fly for DHL, but does not do so directly (although Lufthansa Cargo has a wet-lease agreement with World Airways for one of the three MD11s Lufthansa Cargo flies on behalf of DHL across the Atlantic every weeknight).

Quoting Columba (Reply 1):
DHL also owns Airborn Express

DHL owns Airborne Express the package delivery company, but DHL does not own ABX Air the airline that used to operate Airborne Express' flights, because DHL is not a US entity and therefore cannot own a US carrier.

CargoJet Airways (Canada)

Cargojet does not operate any dedicated DHL flights. DHL is allocated space on CJ, which is also shared with UPS etc.

Duly noted. I was under the impression CargoJet was flying nightly between YHM and ILM for DHL.

DHL's U.S. Base is at ILN in Ohio, not ILM.

The DC=8s on the ABX side no longer operate scheduled DHL freight, but rather fill in for the 767's occasionally, and have a few routes that they fly a few times per week, but they are all but out of the fleet. There are only 4 left at ABX, and they will be gone soon, although oddly enough, the company did recently offer an upgrade class for a few new DC-8 pilots.

Sorry, sticky fingers.

Spot on on the DC8s. I'm not usually a fan of older aircraft, but I'll miss seeing DC8s in DHL colors. I was around them quite a bit in my first living-wage-paying job (but not so often in them).

Thanks!

Hi PKK. It is interesting to see your numbers. I did a thread about this in January 2006, where you provided a list from September 2005. At that time the total fleet list was 440 airplanes. Do you know why they now have "just" 370 planes operating on behalf of DHL? That is 70 planes less and have happened when the on-time cargo marked has exploded.

How Many Airplane/airlines - On Behalf Of DHL? (by OyKIE Jan 8 2006 in Civil Aviation) Your reply is nr 20.
