Tranfer From T2 To T4 At LHR, Landside

On Friday a friend will arrive at LHR Terminal 4 with JJ 8084 at 15:35 while I arrive with LH 4732 at 15:50 at Terminal 2.

I have following question: What is the best way to get from Terminal 2 to 4? Will that be the Heathrow Express? Or is there any other kind of shuttle service at the airport? How long might the transfer take?

Thanks for your replies!

Yes, HEX is your best bet, although, frustratingly, it's not convenient from T2, as the main exits are at T1 and T3. Nevertheless, you can get there via the underground travelator system, or by walking round to T1 (indoors, or outside), and taking the lift (and escalators) down to the HEX platform from the far end of T1.

The train itself is free and only takes about 5 minutes, and runs at 15 minute intervals. If you're in a hurry then you want to be at the front of the train, as that is closest to the lifts up into T4.

The alternatives are a long, but free, bus-ride (554, 555, 556), or taking the tube to Hatton Cross, and changing for the tube back to T4 (not free).

I think that the bus is a non starter, it would take nearly 1 hour, (also you will have to wait for the bus - not sure about frequency).

... the bus takes 30 mins max, but yes, it does depend on the schedule. Every 20 mins, apparently (05, 25, 45 mins past each hour during the day). It's 555, 556, 557 (my mistake). The bus runs via the A4 and the Eastern perimter road to Hatton Cross, then along the Southern perimter road to T4.

Here's a link for the free bus travel zone around the airport:

Heathrow Free Travel Zone

It's dated 2005, but as far as I can see it's pretty much up-to-date.
