What is the seating capacity of a MD-80? I will be flying one in april and I was just wondering?

While the actual number of seats will vary with each airline, your looking at between 135-145.

Well, just for comparison, all these aircraft have realitively the same capacity.

A320
B727-200
B737-400
B737-800
MD-80 (except 87)
MD-90

The MD81, 82 and 83 can hold up to 172 according to Douglas. My airlines 80's are configured for 164 and it's a dang tight squeeze. The only way that I could see 172 seats is if some of the lavs/galleys are removed. The 87 seats fewer but I don't remember the exact number.

Alitalia, which is the third largest operator of the type, uses its MD-82 in two configuration: one class 163 seats (2+3 layout) and two class 133 seat (2+2 in business and 2+3 in economy).

Aeromexico's Md-80's are 12/130=142 , and the md-87's are 12/97=109
