Some excerpts from their website,

World Airways focuses its marketing efforts on the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command ("AMC"), cruise ship companies, international leisure tour operators, freight operators and international airlines operating in countries where rapid economic development drives demand for the Company's services. (Wetlease)

They operate mix of MD-11 and DC-10.

They used to fly scheduled after deregulation, but thankfully changed their strategy.

The company is based out of Dulles Airport in suburban washington, DC. World also does a lot of subleased Cargo flights...

hopefully this company is back on track ... posting good #s and getting more military flying contracts

I believe Malaysia Airlines has a stake in World Airways and therefore has a leasing agreement with MAS for the provision of extra aircraft when necessary.

This may change as Naluri sells its stake in Malaysia Airlines...as I'm not too sure which part-owner of MAS also holds the stake in World.

World has a DC-10 here in ATL all of the time and an occasional MD-11. Just saw them the other day with a MD-11 in Aer Lingus colors, with World titles over the lettering. Also, just saw a former CO DC-10 that World obtained. Blue CO tail with the CO globe painted over and the white World gloge in its place. The Gold cheat line along the fuselage is painted over and World lettering is painted in blue over CO's titles on the fuselage. Hopefully this is a new look for their fleet but I think their money is better spent on other aspects of their operation.
