Delta 73S To Oakland...from Dfw!

What an odd route on a 73S. Too long in my opinion. They should at least put a 733 on the route. I think that this is the longest scheduled 737-200 flight operating today in the U.S. Anybody know of a longer one?

USAir/Metrojet BOS-FLL. same for Delta Express this is reaching 3 hours long. (About 2:40 flight time)

I believe the Delta flights from DFW to OAK are about
3:50 hrs/min. Way too long for me on a Smurf.

But Delta will replace the B737-200 pretty soon. Delta had announced a couple of weeks ago it will deploy the remaining -200's from mainline to the Express operations.

I was thinking Vanguard MCI-LAX also, but that with the above mentioned routes are still shorter than DFW-OAK.

And please spare me the 737-200 are crap routine. What is so bad about them other than they're old. I don't think they're noisy beyond reason or any more uncomfortable than any other airliner in coach class. Come on!

So hearing any aircraft that lacks them deployed on those long flights gives me chills. Objectively speaking the 737-200 is a great and safe plane and if DL were to ever invest in putting PTVs (when pigs fly) on them I wouldn't care where they flew.

I understand the IFE concerns, but I don's see any reason why the machine itself isn't suitable for the route.

Canadian AIrlines used to fly 73S's from Montreal and Toronto to Vancouver, 5+ hour flight, so I don't thing 3:50 is that bad. CP's 73S's do have IFE, though.

Canadian still uses the 737-200 from YVR-DFW and YYZ-DFW, both are longer than DFW-OAK

I was looking at the Jan bid packet and the flight goes to a -300 next month on at least one of the flights. Those seats are just as cramped as the -200's. You're barking at the wrong dog! Try a 727 from CVG-SEA, PDX and SFO! I don't care if you love that plane in your most favorite color scheme on your favorite airline. Those seats suck and so does the plane. PIG!!!

A little off topic, but can anyone tell me where all those Canadian 737-200's I see at LAX all the time come from?
The nearest Canaidian city I can think of is YVR, and that has to be at least a 3 or 4 hour flight away!!!!!

This summer i flew a Delta 757 from SFO-DFW, not much different in time maybe 5-15 minutes difference.
