EI Registration On Italian Acft

Hi all,

I was wondering why many Italian airines have EI registered aircraft, for example Air One, Blue Panorama and even some Alitalia T7 's. All these aircraft are leased, but not from the same lessor though. So why is it that they retain an Irish registration and that this, afaik, does not happen in other countrys?

In Italy, it is required that the aircraft bear the regestration from the country in which they are legally owned. This is not the case in other European countries.

Corrent, many leasing companys are registered in Ireland. Aeroflot is another airline with 'EI-XXX' registered planes.
