I remember back when DL was transitioning DFW more and more to DL Connection, there were threads comparing DL's peak at DFW to what it was then (back around 2002 I believe). I haven't seen anyone do that with CVG. What was DL mainline's peak at CVG, and where did they fly?

At it's peak, I think DL had upwards of 200+ mainline flights a day out of CVG.

Quoting FLYGUY767 (Reply 1): I can remember CVG-AMS with the 763
CVG-AMS still operates with a 763 4x weekly seasonally (now).

Just as an aside -- beyond comparing Delta @ CVG now to Delta @ CVG years ago, I think that CVG is far, far safer as a Delta hub than DFW was. Despite Delta's recent draw-down of capacity at CVG, and transitioning of more and more routes to RJs, I don't think they'll be leaving CVG anytime soon because it does serve its purpose within the Delta network very well: it provides a conveniently-located and relatively uncongested hub to link the U.S. northeast with the rest of the country.

From Apr. 99 to Oct. 99 we had 2 MD-88's and 2 732's to CVG from GSO with 3 OH CRJ's mixed in. I don't remember when they went all Connection, but they were definitely the flights you wanted to NRSA on. I know that PVD had several mad dogs at the time as well, the good ole days.

To be completely accurate, looking at DL's summer timetable for July 1997 (their mainline peak at CVG), DL was operating 228 mainline flights.

Quoting B4REAL (Reply 9): . Mainline to YYZ, YUL, GRR, DTW, MSP, IND, ZRH, it hurts to continue.
it does indeed hurt to continue! Add to that PVD, SWF, SBN, HOU, BHM, BTR, AVP, ABE, MHT, MDT, and so on....

Quoting SESGDL (Reply 8): July 1997 (their mainline peak at CVG)
I was gonna pull that out of my, uh, anyway, as a wild guess at when it was "big" or "near the peak." I would have actually said Aug 1997 only because I flew through there then and it was huge.
I remember flying through in 1999 and they had huge flags hanging in the atrium of the big new DL terminal of the countries with nonstops from CVG, I think UK, Germany, Belgium, France, and Canada?

Add Switzerland to that list.
Yeah, it is kinda sad to see the way things have gone.
