The actual talks are denied, but no one denies that VLM was approached by AF-KLM.
It also states that VLM itself is also looking at possible partners/mergers
Anyhow, I hope the VLM brand stays, it a great company

I'm not sure that would be a good thing, especially as I dont see BA stepping in to fill this, nor will bmi or any other UK regional, maybe flyBE ? but they've not got the best reputations' so far.
VLM's F50s are always in excellant top condition, KLM's are magneticially opposite.. when the door is opened.. it falls out.
However the thought of finally earning some airmiles (that are worth having) from LCY to MAN has it's appeals.

Personally I think VLM has the right model...
it's everywhere to LCY. Although they offer connectoins, I doubt anyone uses them for a connecting flight. LCY is all about somewhere to city traffic. LCY will never make a connecting airport, but thats the reason for it's success... LHR's future is solely connecting traffic or long haul.

VG has been looking to expand - there was talk about Embraer 170s (no doubt with LCY in mind), so that might be a motivation; a joint order from Cityhopper/CVLM and one or two AF partner airlines might provide some very good deals on Embraers (or indeed, another commuter type).
As a Jersey resident, I think it's a positive step if it allows VG to feed into AF/KL's networks at AMS. I see that there will be a monopoly for VG/KL on AMS-LCY, but surely that is surmountable.
It'll be very interesting to see how this pans out.
