Just got on one the Russian aviation websites.

10 orders + 10 options for SSJ-100/95 (with extended range) for Italian carrier ItAli. Total list price $ 283 million. Deliveries starting in 2009. If that'll be confirmed , it would be the first truly Western order for Russian built passenger jet.

This is fantastic.

In fact this is one of the first orders from a truly independent western airline for a Russian built airliner. Screw Airbus and Boeing, this is better news! I hope SAS order it also.

Amazing, if its true, Itali air have a funky livery  Smile At the moment the airline is a bit strange, offering scheduled flights from Pescara and Milan to places like rome and Reggio di Calabria. Also they do a lot of charter work, looks like they want to increase their operations significantly.
Great news for the Russian aerospace industry if confirmed..

In the past Italy was one of two European Western countries to have operated Russian planes.
Avioligure operated Yak40s.
The second country was Germany with General Air having operated Yak40s as well.

This new order is funny , and hope others will follow.
