I will be flying on JAL Flight 622 from PVG to NRT and SQ Flight 12 from NRT to LAX on 30 June. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me any information about the particular ships I will be travelling on that day? I am specifically interested in the business class seating dimensions of these aircraft, especially the SQ 744 I will be on for almost 11 hours. Will these be the spacebeds or the new business class seats? I know that the new J class seats were first introduced on the 773ER's, but was unsure of the time table for adding them to the rest of the long-haul fleet.
I am in seat 5A on the JAL flight and 14A on the SQ flight. The SQ seat is in the attic and I was wondering if this is the best location or would I prefer being in the lower deck J seating. I ask this because this is my first time ever flying on a 747 after many years of flying, so needless to say, I am super pumped about the experience. I just want to make it the best trip possible for me!!
Any information will be much appreciated.

I am on SQ JFK-FRA-SIN (747) in July. I don;t believe they changed over the 747's yet. I have been in F class before and looking forward to experiencing the spacebeds. They look pretty comfortable besides the slope issue.
I like the upper deck much more than the lower J cabin. I have been in CX J class upper deck many times. I like the upstairs because it is less crowded and more private. They say that the exit row 17 is the best seat upstairs. However, I could not get those seats now because they are not released until the day of departure unless you have status I believe.

The SQ flight will definitely be a 747-400. They all have lie-flat seats in business class sloped at 7 degree from horizontal. I like this seat a lot. Food is great and you can go to their website and see a selection of meals from which you can order in advance by phoning SQ. AVOD is excellent. All the seats upstairs are good seats.

From what I understand SQ don't have any plans to install the new F and J cabins on any aircraft in the fleet, other than the 773ER

The A340-500s and some of the 777-200ERs might be refitted, but the 747-400s will not be.

If you are a window geek then don't sit on the upper deck, because the windows are slightly bent upwards what makes it more difficult to view things below. The upper deck might be a bit cosier, but the business section on the main deck is fine too. Anyway I am sure you will enjoy the flights with SQ.

Hi,
www.seatguru.com is always a good source for finding out what the configuration and the seating dimensions of the aircraft is like.

Thanks for that information. I wonder if JAL will be able to access those seats for me. I fear that if I wait until I arrive at NRT it could be too late to get in row 17!
