Im sure LH makes good profits on this route because during summer season there are 2 DAILY flights. Why should they fly twice daily to a destination without good profits? (LH420, LH422 B747-200 and A340-300)

KLMBlue: Lufthansa does very well on this route. Of the three times I have taken this flight (LH422/423) they were full. Lufthansa has a daily 747-200, and during the summer has an additional flight (LH420/421) using an A340-300, up from an A300-600 two years ago.
However, United is looking to start flights next year using the 777, so we may not get the second Lufthansa flight, as they opt to code-share on the UA flight.
I do know that US Airways tried a BOS-FRA route a few years ago, but it was dropped after the Summer season. Apparantly it didn't do as well as planned, but I think that was due to the lack of advertising. I didn't even know of this route, until after it was cancelled. However I did see the US 767s landing a few times.

Yes things changed:
BA has the earliest fight to Europe:
BA 238 (B772) ETD 8.45 am
LH has still the earliest evening outbound flight:
LH 423 / ETD 4.55pm
ETA 6.00 am
this of course varies as a lot of times tail wind really pushes you home.
Two years ago on the 24th of DEC I flew on LH 423 to FRA, flight time 5.20h.
I and the crew thought that was really fast.
Last year I was proven wrong as I was flying home again on the 24th of DEC on SQ 026 and we had a nice tail wind up to 180 kts. Actual flight time from JFK - FRA (5h 20 min)
