I was booked for a flight to Dubai on KL 0429 yesterday the 22.06. and the flight was supposed to leave AMS at 20H50 but already at my arrival at Schiphol I saw that almost all flights where delayed by 2-3 hrs due (my guess) to the heavy thunderstorms around the airport area...so my flight was delayed till 11H45 but just before boarding (there was no plane at the gate F7) they announced that our flight has been cancelled and will depart today at 15H25 due to a technical problem...anybody any idea what could have been the problem? maybe once again a problem somewhere with the MD11 and they needed our 777 for replacement there?

There was a problem with one of the B772ERs earlier in the afternoon and KLM needed the aircraft that was to be dispatched to DXB to operate KL695/YYZ. At first, it was thought that the problem with the broke aircraft could be fixed, and the flight was delayed until 23.45LT, but that turned out not to be the case, so the flight was delayed overnight, until a spare aircraft became available. The next morning, due to the late arrival of KL792/GRU, another B772ER flight, KLM had no other option than to furhter delay the DXB departure. KL427/23JUN to DXB actually departed before KL429/22JUN.

In other words, acute shortage of airframes...
Maybe retiring those 767s because the masters in Paris don't like the type wasn't such a good idea after all...
