John Travolta's 707 (N707JT) is refuelling at YQX, en route from Shannon to Jacksonville.
Anyone know if he's flying it today?

It's quite a pretty plane, indeed. But I have no idea as to the whereabouts of Mr. Travolta  Smile

It departed YQX 10 minutes ago. Heads up in JAX.

I believe he and his G-II were at Le Bouget today. He's in Paris promoting a new movie.

Hi,

The bird was definitively at Le Bourget yesterday (Saturday, 23)
Here is a picture from the fight demonstrations stands :

Big version: Width: 1024 Height: 768 File size: 62kb

Sorry, crappy quality, but I didn't bring my big camera this year. Was by the way quite a view as a background during the crew rescue demonstration!

I saw it today in Ocala (must have just come in from JAX). Not the first time I've seen it there either. OCF isn't far from Greystone. Anyone know why he sends it to OCF?

Yes it is a beautiful Boeing 707-138B. Question: John Travolta is a Private Pilot with B-707 Second-In-Command privileges only in the aircraft (verified through an FAA check) I'm not being facetious when I ask, "does he fly in the right seat and make a quick switcheroo off the high speed taxiway to be seen as he taxis up to the ramp in the left seat?" In all the photographs he is shown in the left seat wearing a uniform that makes him look like Lord of the Admiralty "Captain Crunch."

Does anyone know?

Probably fuel and/or maintenance, and possibly in some cases for other pax/crew to plane/deplane rather than having to do this at his private residence.

Will this plane be able to fly indefinitely, or will it eventually fall victim to planned, on-the-horizon noise restrictions even though it's huskitted and Stage III compliant?

He can fly the airplane all the time from the left seat as long as there is a B-707 type rated pilot in the right seat. The FAR's do not specify what seat has to be occupied, only that there be one B-707 rated pilot who is pilot in command.

Check out the close up photos, with Travolta also, when the aircraft was in Orlando next to another Qantas 707-138 being ferried to Australia last December.

It's certainly a beautiful aircraft and a one of a kind!

Whats the range of this 707 ?

I thought 707's were banned in the EU ?

Last question.. earlier this year the Qantas 707 flew from Southend to Canary Islands then Bermuda to Orlando..

I thought the 707 had better range than this ?
I read something about they were not allowed to land in bermuda unless they left the EU and landed elsewhere first ?

But the aircraft hadn't flown for several years and wasn't in the best of condition, so for the ferry flight to Australia I think they were very conservative and operated quite a few fairly short sectors. The 707-138B, especially when empty, could easily handle a 5000 mile nonstop sector.

umm.. He's type rated. He has an amazing number of type ratings. He can fly either seat.

IIRC there is an ongoing court case or dispute, or something along those lines whereby he's not allowed to fly the 707 into Greystone, hence why it's frequently in OCF. I'm sure a local will be able to tell us more, but when I was flying in and out of OCF frequently in March it was there and someone in the airport restaurant told me that was why it was based there. OCF is a strange, but great airport to land at as there's JT's 707, as well as 727 freighters along with the GA crowd, all at an airport with no tower !! It's weird self announcing turning a 2 mile final only to hear there's a 727 catching you up rather fast  Smile

Only link I could find anything about the dispute is http://ocala.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...25/NEWS/205250405/-1/community0104 which has some info.

Gawgeous, just gawgeous. What a blessing it is to have that aircraft. I am always looking to see if I can catch it here at ATL.

I assume it's back in the US now.

I was great to see it at LBG, pity they didnt bring it closer to the show for everyone to see.
