There were strong thunderstorms hit the Chicago area so it was diverted to MSP. Very very rare visitor.

Good thing you had your camera. Great shots. Where did you take them from? the Observation deck at D or from the Parking ramp?

Looks like the hill in the cemetary, just above the parking area off Post Rd.

They were taken from the Cemetery, it's a great place to do plane watching, except that with the new runway, this spot sees a lot more take offs than landings.

Thanks for your comments!

Wonder why they did not divert to YYZ...AI has regular flights here and would have staff and facilities to handle the flight and pax....

= Agreed completely. I know some A.Netters have found the livery boring and outdated, but I find it super classy.

YYZ is about two hours away and the system probably was last minute. YYZ is outsourced anyway so it wouldn't matter much anyway. MSP is closer and easier to get a clearance from then a airport that far away.

Why would they want to divert a US bound flight to Canada (in non -emergency situations)? It would be a immigration nightmare for the airline and the passengers if they have to deboard.

Love the AIXes

How Funny! I was standing on my steps that night about 8 or so and saw it take off. I did a double take! I knew I recognized the livery but was still a little unsure.
