SIA Y passengers gotta love this plane ! Due to the extra legroom they are going to enjoy on this ex-MAS 744. And SIA P passengers gotta love the two extra large lavatories ! This plane will be operating the SIN-AKL-SIN sectors.
Out of interest PhilSquares what is your understanding of what is happening with the AKL route? Generally AKL has good loads in all classes, but any idea what will happen when the lease on these 2 aircraft ends? 77W or will SQ have enough 744's to send 1 to AKL with the arrival of the A380's?
Quoting 9VSWA (Reply 2): The aircraft going to SIA are 9M-MPC and 9M-MPE. -MPE is already in service and is in the *A livery. It now carries the registration 9V-SPR. -MPC will become 9V-SPS
SPR made its first visit to AKL this past Thursday 28th June.

Since MH launched its Business Turnaround Plan, more than 10 routes were being axed and a lot more saw some streamlined. This resulted in overcapacity of B744, which MH has 17. 9M-MPA has been returned to Boeing (to be converted to a Boeing 747 LCF) leaving 16 frames left but only 11 are in service. With MPC (nicknamed Kuantan) and MPE (nicknamed Kangar) leaving for SQ, MH still has 14 B744s. Some traditional routes which were previously being served by B744s are now being served by B772, like FCO, JED and MEL.

Yes, both frames are RNSD aircraft (refurbished aircraft with brand new cabin features including the New First Class Cabin & Flat bed seats).
