PIA have pulled out of Moscow(SVO) and Singapore, both were being operated from Karachi with A310, SIN was via Kuala Lumpur and SVO via Dubai.

KUL has now been upgraded to A310 and 743 with new routing Karachi-Kuala Lumpur.

Islamabad-Bangkok-Hong Kong route is now with A310 instead of 742M.

No A310 upgrade for Lahore-Delhi as had been planned in May.

SIN is logical as they cant compete with SQ who offer 3 direct services from LHE & KHI to SIN + TG/MH via BKK/KUL respectively.

The upgrade to KUL is interesting especially with regards to the B 743.

ATH was anyways always a loss making route!

B 737s are more than enough for this 1 hour flight! No need for the A 310 here!

Amsterdam also dropped, schedules removed from website, however ATH schedule is still up, maybe an error as AMS is actually going to be resumed according to a PIA spokesman.

..what's interesting is even SQ has had to pull this route before..they just recently re-introduced it.....I really don't hear too many people of speaking about SIN......I know some people who fly on TG/MH...

Ostensibly, it seems as if this new PK management is trying to get PK back into profitability before they open up new routes (LAX should be one), I hope they succeed....and the Pakistani govt. allow it..with them, you just never know.. spin

Colombo also dropped.

So now the list of latest suspended destinations is:

Colombo
Singapore
Athens
Moscow

742M only doing Delhi service, besides KHI, LHE and ISB, previously they were operating to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Dhaka, Mumbai and Colombo.

PIA Express service that used a 742 leased form Air Universal(Jordan) has also been stopped.

I think once PK gets its house fully in order, we'll see services to Moscow again...though not so sure about SIN, ATH or Colombo.

I see that PK274/5 KHI-BOM-KHI, which is presently 4x weekly 310, 1x weekly 743, will, from the 28th Oct, be 5x by 743.

Annoyingly, PK’s fare page won’t appear: they’re updating their fares.

Does anyone know that a foreigner is charged for a one-way ticket for KHI-DEL?

But DEL and BOM get virtually the entire PIA fleet depending on the day of the week. I've seen 733's A3131's, 743's and I believe even a 77L dropped in some time ago.

Is that because they need the A310's elsewhere, because 5x 743's is a lot of lift, even if the entire Mumbai Sindhi community felt very senti all at once...

the reason why PIA sends the B 743s during certain times of the year to BOM & DEL is because of the heavy Umrah & pre/post hajj groups traffic as well as normal Indian labor traffic bound for JED/RUH and UAE that PIA picks up from BOM via KHI.

Over 65% of PIA's BOM & DEL flights from KHI are filled with 6th freedom transiting labor traffic consisting of Indians bound for the Middle East via KHI.

This is interesting. Has anybody have a typical itin for say BOM-KHI-DXB/AUH/RUH/JED on PK? I can't seem to pull it up.

Does the schedules have any forced long layovers in onward/return legs? How does PK treat Indian passport holders at KHI if they are to have more than 8 hour layover?

Wow, I thought this route was a success for PK, but i guess its not. Besides IAH, where else will they fly to in the US?

After dropping ORD, do you think they would really start a service to LAX??

Are they dropping these routes due to pax load or a/c availability??

Houston was suspended in December 2006 and officially dropped in April 2007 without being resumed. New York is the only US city they will be left with.

Load factor, according to some Chicago had never been profitable since it was resumed in 2003 and operated with A310, cant say about Los Angeles I dont think PIA are keen on that either, China have allowed them fifth freedom for the service yet they are not availing it.
