Its official, at Cancun Frontier holds veto power. How many F9 routes is that to CUN??

F9 shouldn't have any trouble making this flight work.
Having said that, this is an interesting move. Some uncertainty surrounds MKE's future right now, and many think that FL would not be so warmly welcomed there. Perhaps a subtle (and not unexpected) expansion is a subtle way of F9 sticking its neck out a bit lest a much larger opportunity present itself.

Are they going to do another 'Send Flip to Mexico' type campaign for this? That would be sweet!

The good thing is that FL has nothing flying into Mexico.

Which one of those airport that has high load factors to CUN? I am sure it is DEN or SAN. I am not sure how many passengers use IND-CUN because we also has NW offered n/s between IND-CUN too so bascially passengers make choice either Frontier or NW. I am surprised that Frontier add more city for n/s to CUN. I am wonder if it is good business decission or not?

From what I've heard (and maybe Mariner or someone can confirm this), F9 has been very happy with the IND-CUN peformance. Personally, if I lived in IND, I'd take F9 over NW any day. Their service is far superior, and they are often less expensive.

Originally IND-CUN was supposed to be year round. Guess they figured those two months were pretty bad.

Hmmm well somehow I guess I must've missed this thread announcing the good news. Does anyone know if NW going to continue their weekly seasonal MKE-CUN service? I was surprised earlier this year that they still flew the route.

Absolutely! Frontier's Mexico service is, and always has been, a huge money-maker. During the winter storm in DEN last year, F9 was repositioning aircraft all over the country to keep the point-to-point CUN flights running!

What about the MDW-CUN charter? I know that is not scheduled, and I didn't think MDW had international gates (they must pre-clear or something).
As for the MKE-CUN service being a shot at FL, I think the opposite is true. F9 and FL have a marketing agreement where their booking sites will refer to each other, and you can earn ff miles/credits on both airlines.

Well NW's loads are very full, all year around its going out typically oversold.

Most likely.

This is an incredibly smart move for F9. As of a couple years ago there were 2 - 3 757s a day in the winter from MKE - Anyplaceabove10degreesfarenheit...(should be a new city code for that!) In addition we would see a number of other charters.

Quoting CitrusCritter (Reply 19): I wonder how long it'll be until they announce MEM-CUN?
That'll be interesting.
NWA already flies MEM-CUN, and, after Frontier came to town, must have thought that Frontier would add a Mexican route.
So they applied for MEM-PVR. Can you say pre-emptive?
But I wonder if Frontier would do something else - MEM-MZT, perhaps? And it's still an open question as to whether they'll do anything Mexican from MEM.

They just opened a new terminal, not sure if F9 is there I know NW is.

Might be a bit off topic, but does anyone know if USA3000 is going to be coming back to MKE? I flew them to PUJ a year ago and thought they were great. Its to bad they weren't around this past winter/spring.

It's still running, at least on Saturdays. A1, A2, and A3 at MDW are all FIS gates.

25 N200WN: Ok, so what routes to Mexico have been dropped so far (permanently, not the season ones)? The only one I can remember is AUS-CUN.
26 AirplaneBoy: F9 is indeed one of the tenants of the new terminal. Cheers
27 ClearedDirect: Speaking of F9 in MEM - I was always wondering how their MEM-MCO or MCO-MEM route was working out. If anything is a shot at NW it is that route.
28 AirTran737: Who else has the route authority for CUN in MKE? NW has one, does anyone hold the other slot? Anyone care to speculate on the future of CUN in MKE? FL
29 Mariner: Frontier MEM-MCO goes to 2 x daily by Christmas. MEM-DEN goes to 3 x daily in November. MEM-LAS goes to daily service (from 2 x weekly) in September.

31 CitrusCritter: Didn't AirTran get approved for (and perhaps actually announce) either MCO-CUN or ATL-CUN before a hurricane did significant damage to CUN? I want to
