Hi all, I've done some searching on aeroplan.com as well as google trying to find out if there is a way I can book a flight using my aeroplan miles for my brother to come visit me on aircanada from yyz to yyc. I always hear of stories of friends flying on a family members airmiles but can't figure out how to do it myself. Air Canada charges 2 cents a mile to transfer to another aeroplan member - that would be $500 to transfer the amount of miles (25 000) for a yyz-yyc flight (almost the cost of a normal flight itself!)

Anyone have an ideas? I haven't booked anything so don't know if I can charge the name of the passenger during the booking process. I assume when you book online it is only for the travel whose name is on the aeroplan number?

You're not transferring miles, you're booking a ticket on them. AFAIK you can book a ticket for anyone, just can't sell them. Pick up the phone and call Aeroplan...or book it at their website. You'll have to pay booking fees and taxes as with any reservation.

Yes I have booked friends on my Aeroplan points both when I was flying with them and when they were flying alone. You need to do the booking and pay the fees with your credit card.
