Looks like we are going to get a few orders in for the rollout. Can we get to 787 by Monday. I think we can with one big order from AA or Delta. Depending what ordered this week are firm, we may be needing only 115 left (ALAFCO 10, QANTAS 20, 642 firm).

115, that is all we ask....HOBO

I started a thread awhile back about 787 orders for "Roll Out" weekend. This makes 30 so far.

Probably not by Monday but soon. This remarkable success story just keeps rolling, showing Boeing's appraisal of this market segments needs was particularly astute. I just hope BCA can quickly iron out oft-rumored production snags to get its new baby delivered ontime. I'm a bit concerned this program's pace was a bit too rushed and that some details may not have been thoroughly sweated out, especially given the radical move to so much composites. I've faith Boeing can deliver on its 787 promises but they may be wishing they hadn't cracked the whip so much to speed along such an unorthodox program. Conceptually, however, they're right on the money about what the widebody market needs most.  bigthumbsup

I guess that the idea of a lull in the last couple years before delivery isn't quite what it was made out to be on another airplane program. I hope Boeing can get one new customer next year  Smile

Since Delta is participating in the festivities tonight (part of the sequenced 707-777 landings at BFI) with a 767 perhaps it would be an appropriate moment to let the world know of a pending 787 order. All the aviation brass be there for the occasion! Probably why CO was selected for the 757 landing.

Well Boeing is over 650 firm orders with ALAFCO's increase. I think QRs announcement will come tomorrow and that will probably be the cherry on the top in terms of 787 orders this weekend. Just my opinion but I hope there are a lot more this weekend.

Though I wouldn't be surprised for a DL order announcement this weekend as there were rumors of DL signing the order in Paris...they migh have been waiting for this weekend to announce it.

Sorry, I don't see Boeing allowing QR to be the "cherry on the top" of anything. They are not blue chip, they spent forever firming up the 777s, and they just placed an 80 jet A350 order giving that program "credibility."

No way Boeing is going to make a huge deal over QR. There is someone else, someone much bigger and more important...

I believe 6 out of these 10 newly ordered B 787s will be going to Kuwait Airways as were the previous 6 originally ordered by them.

My guess if there is someone more important and bigger it would be a US major. They are the one closest to placing a large order (AA and DL most prominent).

BTW, JAmes Wallace is reporting that QRs logo has been applied to the side of the ZA001 along with the other customer logos.

link with a picture?  Wink

And again, I don't doubt the story that QR may have ordered some 787s. I doubt Boeing would want QR to be the "cherry" that gets all the rollout press considering their past behavior and recent purchase of 80 A350s. Unless QR are ordering 100+ 787s, that is...  Smile

Trust me Mr. Leahy the salesman gets on his knees every night and prays to some day have a plane like the Dreamliner to sell.

He's jealous, and has had to eat all those foolish comments he's made over the years.

Good LORD! I didn't think they'd do that this time around -- given they've got so many customers. The livery will be literally plastered with decals for each airline. This is going to be a sight indeed!

I thought ALAFCO previously ordered 12 787 and sold to Kuwait Airways.

Nice to see Air Berlin buy (25) 787's.

According to Boeing, ALAFCO's 12 original 787s were "placed" with Kuwait Airways. This simply implies that ALAFCO leased out 12 787s to Kuwait Airways, not sell them.
