I have read in the Gazeta Aerea of Venezuela that Aeropostal will suspend flights to Aruba from the 15 of July and afterwards as reported before to Bogota,Lima and Havana. They hope to re-start flights by the year end; all this as they have not been able to get dollars to pay leases on their MD80s .The owner Nelson Ramiz has said that 12new planes Dash 8-100 -with capacity of 30 passengers are coming by the end of the year to work as feeders for Maiquetia,Maracaibo and Porlamar. But how are they going to get dollars for these new ones?
He also said that next month he will start flights from Maracaibo to Miami so is he axeing Bogota,Lima in order to fly to Miami?
Hope it is true about the new Dash 8s,as they planned Dorniers a couple of years ago

I really doubt that those Dash 8 aircraft would be new, IIRC the supply of used aircraft is plentiful.

Exceptions confirm the rule.

The owner Nelson Ramiz has said

That's it ! He was a bit bored, not knowing what to do or to say. I guess that's it. Maybe one day I will start a separate thread listing all the announcements he made the last years. And we have to be clear: NOTHING of all that happened.
Whenever something new came up it was not announced before.
Why should this be the first time to happen ?
And: Why 12 Dash ? Why not 45 or 32 ? What the hell does he want to feed ? From where ? With 12 aircraft ? 4 to 6 would be suitable. But he is not even able to pay his existing suppliers.
Anther announcement made was to resume the 3 daily Maturin services and increase BRM to 3 daily (from 2). This is something much more realistic.
I think this airline really need a kind of concept, marketing plan, expansion plan...everything, you name it.

12 DHC-8-100.... this is really funny!

Aeropostal had this fleet (30 planes):

3 DC-9-20
7 DC-9-30
12 DC-9-50
6 MD-82
2 MD-83

now the active fleet is down to seven aircrafts:

2 DC-9-30
2 DC-9-50
2 MD-82
1 MD-83

Years ago the had ideas like Saab 340, than Dornier 328 for feeder services. For the normal operation they like to have A320 and later B737-800...

138T is out of maintenance now and ready to fly as soon as they get the authorization for MUN and BRM. So I think you can put it back on the list of operative aircraft - wow, then it's 8 again !

BREAKING NEWS

Nelson Ramiz was hiding at the 787 Dreamliner premiere as he then approached to the public announcing the purchase of 10 787s that will serve routes from CCS to MAR, PMV, BRM and BLA.

The investment is calculated to be more than $ 1 US Billion and the money is coming from unconfirmed sources.

Congratulations to VH. Having a launch airline at this magnificent event is surely a reason for us Venezuelans to be proud. Especially of the maturity, clearness and good way of managing an airline that Mr. Ramiz has!

Viva Aeropostal!

Pffff.

If Aeropostal need an aircraft with 30seat, it would be better for Aeropostal if they will buy some DC-3... That would be great for all of us.

LOL!!!.....Now seriously...Ramiz sucks! that guy doesn't have any idea of the airline industry!. I think it would be better for VH to sell all those crappy DC-9's and buy one A320 or maybe an A319 and start from zero with a few routes. The expansion plans could come latter.

I can't believe this. What's next? A dozen of Caravans? Maybe bring back a couple of Concordes? I guess everything's possible in Ramiz's world.

Anyway, I wouldn't be worried about his announcements. As other A.netters have pointed out, his word lacks any credibility.
