Not sure if the weather is quite as bad out at ORD, but I'm sitting in a high-rise on Michigan Avenue and it's pitch black outside... we can barely see the buildings across the street. Anyone know where our transatlantic arrivals are being sent today?

Like this one.

Looks like they decided to divert to Louisville (LOU), but the wrong airport code. Then realized they wanted to go to the other Louisville (SDF) and are approaching now. Usually when AA's TUS-ORD flights divert, they go to MCI, but it looks like MCI is going to get storms later. Still too bad they couldn't go somewhere closer.

THe Tranatlantic flights would probaby diversions to either MKE or Grand Rapids, MI. STL or IND may get some airplanes. I do not think that SDF would get any of them since they are little farther south than IND.

I am sure that WN would diversions to either MCI or STL since they has terminal that deal with WN. I also notice that they went to Dane County airport. Is it a Madison airport? Wonder if they able to handle many aircrafts?

Yeah, thats Madison's airport. We can handle most aircraft, either by other airlines at the terminal or the FBO, Wisconsin Aviation. The FBO has a pretty large ramp area, and our airline ramp will soon be able to handle 3 or 4 more airbuses.

Today it probably hurts to be flying AA, since ORD, DFW, JFK and BOS are all experiencing problems.

I just started a thread today how UA had no cancels on Sunday--guess that Monday is going to end up much, much different....

Looks like AA288 (PVG-ORD) and AA154 (NRT-ORD) both diverted to MSP. Nice to see a pair of beautiful 777's at MSP, eh?

Although, when I worked for AA in MSP they were about the last thing you wanted to see there....LOL!!!

I thought that they has to stay inside the aircraft during diversion? When I was travelled from Gualadajara, Mexico, we went to DFW aborard AA 727. We had to diverted to AUS due to storm in DFW. We had to stay inside aircraft but F/A asked around if want some drink or snack while we waited.

Isn't SDF the main Louisville airport, with LOU the secondary reliever (kind of like DTW and DET)?

They were allowed to deplane as it was a domestic flight and we they didn't know how long the diversion would last.

That is correct, no one is allowed to deplane during an international diversion unless they have pre-clearance from customs. Sometimes, a police officer will stay attended at the door with an agent while the airplane refuels. On one instance during the most recent weather disruption at ORD, we got a call from dispatch that AA288 wanted to divert to DTW and use the customs facilities as the flight would of cancelled due to crew legality (door had to open for refueling), but customs said "No" -the flight did finally make it into ORD.

I don't think LOU has long enough runways for an MD-80. I think it was probably an error in airport code at first, which they corrected.

Do you know about AA292 ORD-DEL? When I checked last night, it was Delayed. But this morning the AA website has no info on the actual departure time. And the In bound AA293 for tomorrow is cancelled. I'm guessing it didn't fly last night. But I'm also guessing more that weather. Anyone have the facts?
