I LOVE the flying Kangaroo Logo - and wouldnt actually mind if it was altered slightly to make it more modern but still kept the red triangular shape with the Kangaroo... but with a modern twig?

Now that was pretty damn funny! Sick, but funny.
I think most would agree that the Qantas logo is pretty well known throughout the world so a drastic change would probably not be smart. But some minor tweaking to bring it more up to date would be great. Possibly to coincide with delivery of their first A380?

I hope to goodness that they do not consult the folk who did the logo for BHP Billiton. That is still awful years after the event. The old steel ladle might have been out of date but it was distinctive. And come to that, when did BHP have any interest in Broken Hill? They have not even been among the companies looking for another Broken Hill orebody.
I cannot see how you can update a kangaroo, even a flying one!

hehe it WAS nice I agree,... but I think in terms of corporate Branding and such, it would be a step backwards. Perhaps they could change the wings design to look completely different to how it was? and modernise maybe a bit like JAL did!

I just hope this becomes nothing more than just a rumour doesnt materialise... The Qantas logo is well known through out the globe and it doesnt require any altering whats so ever...

It does look good, but I flicked open the pic - uh oh City of Para!
The worst trip I ever had from Europe was on that plane. Blew a nose wheel in Rome. Lost two thrust reversers (same side) in Bangkok. Lost them again in Singapore. Were struck by lightning on the tail waiting for the repairs in Singapore, requiring another couple of hours of electrical fixing as the APU was not well. We then flew down to Melb. It was supposed to take us on to Sydney, but after some shuffling they parked it and found something else to take us to Sydney. I think we took over 40 hours for the epic.

Ouch, that seems like a flight from well. hell... Sorry to hear about that... I guess that isnt one of those "wonderful" QANTAS memories that we hear so many of.. I have one about as bad, but it involved Alitalia from Rome to Melbourne in the 1980's..
However comparing Alitalia and QANTAS is like comparing Darwin to Sydney..

When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

How about Wanulu Dreaming on every aircraft, so that whatever gains are made in composite materials are lost in paint weight?

Well I don't complain about it as at the time it was great dinner conversation. I had pretty much forgotten it until I read the caption. I think the current City of Parramatta is not a 747, but seeing the old one that stirred the memory.

The kangaroo should never have been changed in the first place. There are quite a few airlines in the world still using their original brand and it hasn't harmed them. Granted the winged kangaroo only appeared in the 1940's (I think), but still it 'meant' QANTAS !
