Who flies this route, i see that it is a very short hop to and from the two cities. But i would assume AA or DL would offer the connection.

How short of a route is inoperable?

Operated by F8 on behalf of DL Conx. Operates on a DHC-8 or an E-145.

The DHC-8s will be gone by September. From Sept. on, 3x daily JFK-ALB: 2 flights by F8 with the E145 and 1 flight by OH with the CRJ.

AA used to fly the route until 2002 (?) with MQ Saab 340s, I took one in August 2001... I'd love to see them return to the route, but it's unlikely. I'm just happy anyone is flying the route.

Scotty doesn't know...

Amtrak has good service between Albany and NY Penn, multiple departures. Plus there's a nice new Amtrak station in Renselear.

It's pretty good, somewhat expensive, but pretty good.

Which is great IMO. It has been a good flight to add by DL, because the train, even though it is easier to get into the actual city, is not so good for international connections to lets say LHR or FRA. 3x is a good frequency to get people to international flights without having to take a couple trains to get to JFK.

3 frequencies is perfect, not too much congestion causing either. I'll be glad to have the Dashes gone, I've never seen an evening F8 (Freedom Airlines) Dash flight leave on time! (though i'm sure it happens).
CO flies EWR-ALB, and does US still fly LGA-ALB? with the Colgan Saab??

You kidding me...........the Dash-8 kick ass.......perhaps the people from Freedom needs to turn them around a little faster. and Colga does flight ALB-LGA.

The dash is a fun plane - i love taking it with Piedmont, but the Freedom planes cabins were pretty ghetto, and i didn't hear good stuff about the maintenance. Check out these pics I took on 805LR a while ago.

It's pretty decent, although always delayed. In fact, just got off the 5:45pm to Albany an hour or so ago. BusinessClass isn't bad for an extra $18 bucks!

Fun little plane, but the Freedom birds are aged and the operations were horrible. Which is why DL is pulling all props outta JFK for now  Wink
