Nope, they will replace some 733s and/or increase some European operations. The rumor is that some flights now operated with the F70s will revert to ""mainline"" service when the 73Gs are delivered.
Quoting BY738 (Reply 1): Remember chat about AMS-ABZ-Houston ?
That route and operation is an a.net fantasy. There was some talk that KL was considering ordering 737-700ERs/BBJs to operate all biz class service out of AMS on some routes to the US (Privatair is operating an AMS-IAH service for KL) but there has been no news in recent months.
Quoting Captainsimon (Reply 4): The first 3 of the order will be delivered Summer 2008 these 3 were due to be 737-800 but the orders were converted to 737-700s.
Correct.....many are still trying to figure out exactly why KL downsized the 737NGs on order from 738s to 73Gs, especially for shorter haul European operations; the operating economics of the 738 seem to be prefered by most ""traditional"" (meaning non-LCC) airlines.
