FLL - Construction Next To 9L/27R

Does anyone know what the construction is in front of the viewing area at FLL? It appears to be either a major extension/addition of ramp area or another alternate taxiway for 9L. I've tried the Broward Av. Dept. website but haven't been able to figure out this mystery. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

I am uncertain, but it is annoying when trying to secure a few photos...sort of renders the viewing area useless  Smile

I found out the paved area is the new taxiway C. Nice.
