MCO to MEM Northwest A-320 (N352NW)
MEM to SEA Northwest 757-200 (N545US)
SEA to HNL Northwest DC-10-40 (N160US)
HNL to OGG(Maui) Aloha 737-200 (N804AL)
OGG to HNL Aloha 737-200 (N819AL)
HNL to LAX Northwest DC-10-40 (N133JC)
LAX to MEM Northwest 757-200 (N531US)
MEM to MCO Northwest DC-9-50 (N784NC)

The DC-10-40 from HNL to LAX had an hour delay because of the navigational system went down, so they had to figure out what was wrong, and re-boot it. The DC-9-50 was nice. I've been on a DC-9-30 before and hated it. It was so loud and dirty. But this one looked like they just put in new panels on the inside of it, and was pretty quiet. I got pics of the inside, and will put it on here when I get them back. And the Aloha 737 (N804AL) was really bad. The windows were really dirty, scratched up, and some had like a greasy surface on them. Some of the blue "leather" seats we're dirty. Maybe it was real leather, I'm not sure. It was a bumpy 20 min flight, although it was pretty clear out. Well if you want to know anything else, post it, or email me.

Well the travel agent put us on Northwest (I didn't want to be). And they don't have any flights from MCO to HNL. Does anyone know any airlines that do that? MCO to HNL?

No airline flies that route. Why go from one low-yield vacation destination to another low-yield vacation destination?

That's true - you were already in Orlando, although Maui is a bit spesh. But the resorts of Spain, Greece, Italy et al are closer, and probably a bit more interesting.

As for the itinerary, until you said it wasn't your choice I thought you were like me, ie., why go non-stop when you get three en-route take-offs and landings each way, six different aircraft types... No-one in my family will travel with me back home to Sydney (we all live in London), cos they like the Qantas one-stops (same a/c) whereas I have flown Olympic (three or four stops, a free overnight in Athens), British Midland / China AL / Mandarin (via AMS, BKK and TPE, 735, MD11, 747SP), Middle East Airlines (via Beirut, Dubai, KL, Darwin - A310s and a 747) and my greatest moment: Sydney - Melbourne - Manila - Bankok (Philippines 747s), Bangkok - Bombay (Air France 744), Bombay - Abu Dhabi - Bahrein (Gulf Air L1011), Bahrein - Beirut - Dubai (MEA 707s), Dubai - Heathrow (Pakistan Int'l 747). It took about four days and for the next week I felt like I was in the next room and couldn't quite hear myself (another great description of jetlag: the experience of looking in the fridge, finding your wallet there, and not being able to remember what you did with the milk).

I couldn't help but laughing when reading that! That was great! I try to do as many stops as I can also.. but (as I usually travel with family) I rarely can. But when I can...   I have planned my next flight to/from the east coast to have 10 segments (DEN-DFW-LFT-MEI-ATL-ROA-ATL-MOU-BTR-DFW-DEN), now I just need approval from my father, lol!

Sir, I salute you. When I had to visit (ex-London) New York and Charlotte NC, with a day-trip to Miami ex-Charlotte, I could have done the following:

BA: LHR - JFK
US: LGA - CLT
US: CLT - MIA - CLT
US: CLT - LGW
Cos of BA and USAir's then-amiable marketing agreement, it would have been one normal (ie cheap) fare. But no:

AY: LHR - hel - JFK
DL: LGA - atl - CLT
DL: CLT - atl - MIA - atl - CLT
DL: CLT - atl - jfk / AY: jfk - hel - LHR
(all transit cities in lower case)
Finnair had a ridiculously cheap London to NY fare (£155), but you had to fly three hours in the wrong direction to Helsinki first. Fine by me. Then what could have been three USAir flights was eight Delta sectors on an airpass. I have to say, I must have set some kind of distance record when I flew directly from Charlotte to London via Atlanta, JFK and Helsinki. Right in the middle of this odessey, lest we forget, was a change of airlines and terminals at JFK with a lot of luggage, in the early evening rush hour. Understandably I didn't feel very well by the time I (finally) got home the next afternoon. Ughhh...

I really didn't mind all the stops though. I like being on several different aircraft types to get home. I know Orlando is a big vacation spot, but it's gotten really old after living here all my life, and Hawaii was a nice change. I've been to Paris, and that's all for Europe right now, but I'd really like to go to Austrailia one day. The jetlag wasn't that bad as cedarjet said haha, but I still feel like I'm in the plane, and it's moving side to side. Anyone ever feel like that?

Oh yeah, we had to wake up at 5:30 in the morning from Luncerne to take our tour bus to Zurich for our flight to Brussels. Then after a 3 hr. layover in Brussels, a 9 1/2 hour flight to ATL. Then another 3 hr. layover and our return flight to CMH. About 24 up on aiplanes and in airports, had that feeling, but the trip was great!

ual! mco is growing fast we have some ( a little ) int service but its strong!!!! mco is a HIGH yeild airport (due to all the parks) and hnl is big too!

I agree-the Aloha 737's are pretty dirty, especially the -100 's and -200's at or nearing 20 years old. The newer -400's are pretty nice though.

Nice to hear the 737-400s were nice. I don't know, since I never flew one. Aloha has standardized on the 737-200, the -300s and -400s are no longer in service with Aloha.

For inter-island flights, I prefer Hawaiian, but they also have dirty and scratched windows in their DC-9s. I'm glad they have open seating. That way you can look around for the best window and sit there.
I was on Aloha when they first put in the new leather interiors and they were nice, but the seats were rather high, and my eyes were at the top of the windows, which meant I had to scrunch down in my seat to look out. There was also very little legroom.

Aloha's planes are very cramped and they took away from that "Hawaiian" atmosphere that everyone expects in Hawaii by becoming too commercialized and tailoring to the business and first class passengers. Hawaiian tailors itself to the local interisland travelers and tourists. I heard that Aloha got rid of their 737-300/400's because they couldn't afford to operate them anymore and that they are too big for the interisland market. This is true since I live in the islands and study the interisland industry. Besides, Aloha is small talk now when you compare it to Hawaiian when they reorganised a few years back. Now you have Hawaiian with partnerships with American, Continental, and Northwest, a rapidly growing fleet of DC-9-50's and DC-10-X's. Hawaiian is also growing to become the premier carrier for the trans-pac market (mainland-HNL). I read a report where Hawaiian is growing to become the largest trans-pac carrier surpassing United. I think it is appropriate for the state's namesake airline as well as one of the world's oldest airlines to be the premeir carrier to the islands. Their service far outranks that of United and American which I have flown all three extensively.

I have also flown on Aloha many times. All but once was a good experience. The one bad time was when I was on a QC 737-200. That's why you are up so much higher. The seats & stuff are all on pallets which can get rolled off to convert the plane to freighter. As for getting to Hawaii (I live in Barrington, IL, suburb of Chicago), I take United's non-stop flight 43 (a DC10-30) Chicago-Honolulu, then Aloha from HNL-my destination. On the way back, I take Aloha back to Honolulu, then United's #44 (the same DC10-30 that operates #43) back to ORD.
