Even tough the 737-800 makes a good replacement for the 757, I will miss them, just a shame...

I will definitely miss the AM 757s. I often fly JFK-MEX-JFK on AM and the 737-8, even though it is a great aircraft, is just not the same. The 757 was much better suited for that route in my opinion. The aircraft felt more spacious, wider aisle, etc.

Yep, during my last trips to JFK with AM, I have gotten 73Ws instead of 752s. I don't know if in addition to doing MEX-TIJ-MEX, they are also doing MEX-LIM-MEX. Maybe an ocassional rotation to MTY at peak hour too. On a related subject, didn't AM have to send a 752 to SCL or EZE (via CUN, PTY or whatever) lately because of maintenance on a 767?
It is sad to see the 752s leave AM's fleet. Sadly, the demand for 752s is too high and I am sure the lessors were trying to extract higher rental payments from AM. The 752 was an ideal aircraft for AM and MX, yet neither of them ever got enough frames.

I was under the impression that MX did that. Thye replaced the 767 on the MEX-EZE run with the 757 via CUN. But you could be right, my brain is not what it used to be....

Any thoughts on AM buying or leasing a few 739ERs to replace the 752s on routes like MEX-JFK/LIM as well as when LAX requires extra capacity on certain days?

They're flying to TIJ and CUN mainly as well as LAX and a few charters flight here and there. They not longer use them on LIM.

Yes, as XA-APB was hitted by a SEAT tug truck, they have to ground APB for 45 days... but AFAIK, Papa Bravo is back on track.

The B737-800 has been operating AM's flight to LIM, which I thought would be weight restricted. Distance between MEX and LIM is 2,629 miles and leaves MEX at 5:15 when temperatures are still high... does anyone know about the B738 performance on this route?? MEX-JFK is 2,090 miles and people used to say that CO had issues with the B738 on the MEX-EWR route...

There are only 2 left according to airfleets.net. I wonder where they'll go, FedEx maybe? They sure looked great in Aeromexico colors but would also look great in that FedEx livery. Despite the fact that AM 757's have Pratts like on DL's, I doubt DL would be interested in them as I don't believe that they're ETOPS birds. However, they're not that old; one was made in 1994, the other in 2003 (probably one of the newer 757's out there).

Quoting PlaneHunter (Reply 11): N805AM is scheduled to leave the fleet in October, N703AM will follow in January.
Hey Planehunter! Is 703AM being stopped or being returned to lessor in Jan? I knew they were returning it by Dec 07. By chance, you know exactly when is MX returning the last 2 B757s? N762/763MX? Both planes are grounded and only serving as back-up aircrafts for the moment.

Not a chance, AM's birds are very new and lessors must want to get more revenue from leases... perhaps in 10 years, they might end up hauling cargo for FedEX!!!
