MAXjet will be moving to Terminal 4 at JFK on August 5th! Great move, IMHO.

How in the world does T4 have room for another ~6PM departure??? I don't understand why more T1 airlines don't move to T9, where there is plenty of room....

LX recently moved out of T4, and they had 3 flights to Switzerland between 5PM and 9PM or so (I can't remember the exact time of the second ZRH flight). T4 is a MUCH nicer terminal than T1 is, and I think this will be a great move for MaxJet (just as good for them as the LX move was horrendous).

Good move. Should help with accommodating pax on Virgin flights when the Maxjet flight cancels.  Silly

It's a good thing MY doesnt have a 6PM departure! They currently have, and will have at Terminal 4 a 8:15PM departure.

I was kinda waiting for that.. they should have been at T4 since the start. Oh well.. it was definately a good move to transfer over to T4. Now theres some space in T1 which is always busy.

Doesn't AA own that terminal? I think they'd have a slight issue with another NYC-London airline moving in there.

If anything Terminal 8 makes sense. American will vacate T8 soon, and, with the downsized T9 plan, T8 won't be demolished to make room for additional Regional Jet gates. American was supposedly looking for someone to take over the terminal.

Terminal 9 is American's baby, and they'll keep that way.

If I'm not mistaken, AA is, indeed, going to proceed with the demolition of T8 once T9 is fully operational by the end of this year, at which point the DFW/SAN/SEA/SJU/etc. flights move over to T9, and T8 will be completely torn down and replaced with an open tarmac.

Yes...read here a while ago that Terminal 9 will be renumbered Terminal 8.

According to facilities people I work with a JFK, Terminal 8 is not coming down as quick as we thought (this is as of last week). In fact, certain facilities are re-opening...ie: Au Bon Pain. Expect it to hang around for a while...mostly for roach coach flights. The extension of Terminal 9 (or wing on right hand side as you face terminal) was removed from the plans in 2002. So the wall where the artwork was added (that huge mural of prominent bldgs in the world) will be there for a while too! Also if you are travelling AA out of JFK be prepared as there is NO consistancy with flights leaving T8, they say Miami, SJU etc..all leave out of T8, but that is NOT true. Its very misleading. Read the monitors.

T4 has room. There are 19 Jetway gates and 25 remote parking areas of which 6 have direct fueling so all together you have a total of 25 areas where you can directly fuel an aircraft and depart. Most of the remote areas are used buy aircraft on long lay overs of over four hours. Some flights arrive and turn on the remote fueling areas and passengers are transported by bus to and from the terminal. Gate 23 which was set up for regional flights serves that purpose with a fleet of 8 large buses.

Terminal 1 has only 10 Jetway gates and technically 3 remote parking areas. In the afternoon it is like chaos there.when all those flights arrives. I have seen AF , LH and some other T1 planes just taxiing around the airport or just lined up on the taxiway waiting for a gate to open. One of the remote area where they park planes the tails literally are a bit over the roadway and with the A380 coming in there ramp space will be at a premium. On many days also you see T1 planes parked sometimes at T4 and at different cargo areas being serviced before returning to pick up their pax and cargo.

T9 is owned by AA and is only half complete. T8 is to be vacated shortly and demolished to complete T9.

As for Maxjet I look forward to seeing that a/c at JFK and I will have some pics of the first flight we handle for them.

Wasn't Terminal 8 or 9 once owned by UA? anyone know why it was given up?

I hope T1 doesn't try to get a new airline to replace MAXjet - as it is, T1 is very tight on capacity. I've read that they always have to hold one plane around 4pm (I had to wait 1 hour waiting for a stand on an SU 763) , because they don't have enough space to handle atlantic arrivals.
