A.A. hasn't changed its look for many years. Anybody know of any livery change here in the future?
Of course, they've added some retro "lightning bolt" 50s schemes, but I mean a full new design??

More liveries.............Has anybody ever noticed the similarity in the tail designs of Atlas Air and Continental? Or is it just me that thinks they're similar?

There are other airlines out there that need a facelift MUCH more than AA. I happen to think it looks great as is... but I'm sure it could look better.

I'm always looking to see what airlines can come up with next. Just when you think you've seen them all... you get a beautiful scheme, like Air Tahiti Nui...

I'd like to see an airline hold an open contest. Designers could send in their liveries... 'best one wins' type of deal. I'm sure the average joe out there could come up with something much better than what's out there!

I agree, Tygue. I was only pointing out that AA hasn't changed for decades. And was wondering if any change was imminent.

Yeah.....I like you livery contest idea. Try writing to Southwest Airlines. Now they could use something else!!!

American is looking sharp with their silver bullets! It also shaves some weight on paint.

This topic has been beaten to death... I personally like AA's current livery although I do admit that they could do some small changes to it(be more creative with the cheatlines, and make the red a maroon, and the blue more royalish, and "wave" it a little bit). But, as Tygue said,"There are more airlines out there that need it more than AA" He is absolutely right, Delta should go back to the "old new" I think Air France needs a new livery, and most importantly Southwest.

Wouldn't it be great if they had the Astrojet scheme on every plane

Blink, you made a couple of good points. I recall reading some where than when the current scheme was designed, on a napkin in a NY restaurant as I recall from a book, the colors were to very close to the US flag.

I'd go for a more Royal Blue, and a red with a touchmore Cranberry in it. Pure white is perfect.
On polished bare metal..only way to go.

I recently flew American from BOS to SFO on Friday, Dec 22nd. Their service was outstanding and they even held the plane (767-200) for me because my flight from Bangor ME had a weather delay.

I have become fond of the airlines and I don't think their livery needs updating.

Thanks

AA's livery is classy, traditional, and evokes pride. The bare-metal is becoming rare and is a part of their image.

Southwest's is unique and gives them character. It's a part of that spirit that keeps them successful and most importantly, profitable.
