in august Avianca is operating instead of the normal 4 x daily flight 5 x daily. checking some fares for October it looks like the route will be upgraded also in the next months, also some days CCS will get the nice AV F-100.

Very good news, for Avianca and again an indication that they are doing great in the Venezulean market.

cheers

I wonder why is it that I'm not surprised on this cool new!

Very nice to see AV with another boy here, it's a cool airline that deserves the best.

Well another morning flight here is the timetable:

Flight D.City D.Time EQP A.City A.Time Stops

AV 0182 Bogota 07:00 F100 Caracas 10:00 0

AV 0183 Caracas 10:45 F100 Bogota 11:45 0

Pretty smart move from AV now that VH and V0 are out of the market!.

The flight is loaded in Avianca's system throughout the rest of the year. In other reservation systems the flight only appears for August, though.

BOG-CCS 0700-0950
CCS-BOG 1035-1125

I talked with a close friend at Avianca today, and he told me that the plan is to have at least 5 daily year-round frequencies to CCS. The problem is that they are running a bit short on MD-83s (which I found pretty strange), and the Fokker-100 is not the ideal plane for this route. The early departure from BOG will secure that this flight will carry almost entirely O&D traffic, which tends to travel lighter. This will leave more space in the other flights of the day, for connecting traffic and bigger volumes of cargo.

This new flight will also allow Avianca to have depatures from Caracas conviniently scattered during the entire day: 0645, 1035, 1215, 1500 and 1925.

all what we need is now another F-100 flight at arround 1700-1730.... I am surre it will be the next step within the next 1 year.

Sounds good for AV! I flew BOG-PSO and back on a pair of F100s back in June, and they're wonderful birds. Will CCS be the only international route that they fly or are there others out there currently being served by Fokkers?

VLN in Venezuela is also served by a F100

Just want to add that from the end of this month, Avianca will also improve its service to VLN by making it a daily F100 flight.

It does seem strange, even if the MD83s are in some demand across the operation. Still, one would think that with 13 F100s, some of these can replace some MD83s in the odd domestic routes, even with improved frequencies as to free one for an early morning CCS.
AV/MM still appear as having 15 MD83s. They have returned at least 2 in the past months. One of which on now with Austral in Argentina (formerly N190AN and now LV-BHN) and the other (N593AN) following suit.

Btw, GYE is now all F100, even for the daily night flight. I wonder if it is because of the over demand on the MD83s or because it makes commercial sense..

what is sure is that Avianca Cargo is crying about the decicion only to use F100 on the route.

International stations that get regular AV F-100 service are: Aruba, Caracas, Curacao, Guayaquil and Valencia.

Also, bare in mind that this new flight departs from BOG at 0700, time of the day when many MD-83s are outside the hub and are just flying back. Remember that MDE, CLO, CTG, BAQ, CCS and UIO usually see at least one MD-83 overnight each.

When Avianca added the second flight to GYE last year, loads on the route got significantly hurt: a free fall from the mid-70s to the low-50s. No wonder they went to 2x daily F-100.

CCS get often these days a 757 for overnight, sometimes even the 767

Correct, UIO does too, that's why I mentioned usually
