There are 275 known inactive 747's. Of those, only 8 belonged to ANA. They were all 747-100SR's.

Four of them are under some kind of Boeing ownership now. JA8139 is listed as destroyed, JA8145 was dismantled in October 2002, JA8146 was dismantled in September 2003, and JA8147 was scrapped.

If the wikipedia citation for ANA is correct, it was most likely JA8139 based on the film production dates and the fact that there's no corresponding accident record for an ANA 747.

Tom.

The aircraft was Boeing 747SR-81, formerly N219BA, and JA8147 with ANA.

It is now on the backlot at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. I took the following two pictures of it on a visit last year:

What's the difference between "dismantled" and "scrapped", if any?

dismantled = taken apart like taking componets off

scrapped = broken up for recycling

Ah, okay thanks. I thought the parts were stripped off a plane before a plane was chopped up. I guess this is not always the case then.

It is definately impressive seeing the plane all wripped out. All the wires and seats and everything hanging everywhere. I wish I could find my video of my tour.
