I've been really suprised with the lack of advertising for this new service. There has been none, at least from what I've seen. Last month when Qatar started they had tv/radio ads, billboards up and down the turnpike and even some academy buses painted up. But the first flight is scheduled to arrive at 11:50 today.

VT-JEA is the plane doing the first flight. After a 2hour stop in Brussels (coming from BOM) and a ceremony to celebrate the first scheduled flight of Jet Airways, the plane departed for EWR with a small delay of 30 minutes.

Jet Airways has ads on the Turnpike between 13A and 14 as well as advertising in local papers. They also have been getting good press on local tv for their new suites.

Quoting FLYGUY767 (Reply 4): Lets hope that they are not advertising in Downtown Newark...
If they were flying to Portugal they might want to advertise in Downtown Newark (as TAP does), otherwise, Jersey City, Edison and Princeton would make much more sense for advertising to local Indian population centers.

Really thought they would have entered the market with a big bang. Similar lack of advertising, promotiion, awareness in the YYZ market in preparation for their flights next month. In fact on their website, no press release, and on-line booking not even updated to include YYZ as a destination, despite being uploaded into CRS/GDS systems.
However, that being said, they will do just fine out of Toronto.

They left Brussels after a 30 min. delay. Great start. EWR is the perfect choice. Welcome, Jet Airways, hope you like delays, we have lots of them.

This is the first scheduled 773 to EWR, correct? Have there even been other 773 flights to EWR?

looks like this is the first 773 scheduled at EWR. Continental, British Airways, EL AL, and Alitalia fly 772's in and out of EWR.
25 STT757: Add Air India, Malaysian, and sometimes Air France and KLM to that list.
28 Buck3y3nut: it's a direct flight; however not a non-stop flight. It has a stopover in BRU for 2 hrs I believe... BTW, great pictures... and 9W, welcome to the US
29 Qantas744ER: Regarding 77W at EWR: Eva Air will replace their 74E flight TPE-SEA-EWR with 77W this year Get your cameras ready Leo
30 Max Q: Shame that EVA is replacing their beautiful 744 in EWR with another boring twin.

40 STT757: If they did it was quite short or a sub, AA used 767-200s, 767-300s and A300-600Rs on EWR-LHR. UAL used 747SP, 747-200s and finally 777-200s on EWR-L

50 Jlk: Excellent pictures. The picture where NG bows down on the ground and prays is interesting. The aircraft and the crew look young and vibrant.
