Frankfurt Terrace Open Again

It seems that nobody has posted this yet (or at least I am too dumb to find it ...):

Frankfurt reopened the Terminal 2 observation deck this past weekend after it had been mostly closed for many years. The airport had been completely lacking any official spotting opportunity since the deck on Terminal 1 was closed about 18 months ago. Granted, the view from T2 can't match that from T1 at all, but at least it is something!

Great news, shame that T1 doesnt re open though, it was a real feature of FRA. I dont know why FRA and LHR cant look at ZRH's example. They have a good terrace and you go through scanners and cant take big bags though so that eases the security concerns.

Apparently there are no such "security concerns" in AMS where the visitor's terrace is accessible (I am not talking about wheelchair access here) without any security checks and without any charge.

I recall visiting the terrace at FRA, and it certainly had scanners and x-ray machines when I was there.

 checkmark

I've been to the terrace at T1 a couple of times and, yes, I passed through a security checkpoint each time. In fact, they even made me open my bag and looked at something that looked suspicious on the x-ray monitor (it turned out to be a couple of batteries, IIRC). So, they were definitely awake too...

Apologies for my post being misleading! I had gone to the T1 terrace when it was open. Yes, it's now closed.

No probs its along time sinceI was there so I was a bit confused. Its a shame they dont open it again. It was one of the best viewing areas around. ZRH is the only place I know of now that you can get close to see the planes.

Have you tried DUS on top of the terminal as well as the dedicated spotting area at the railway station (mainline) ?

So what's the new view like?! Is it still pretty good? How's it for seeing the aircraft in Terminal 1? Glad to know that something is open again!
