Hello to all of you. Today i was checking out the last edition of the IN Magazine (LAN onboard Magazine), and i was a little bit impressed when i look at the airport maps page. It says there that from August 21st LAN counters will be moved from Concourse A to Concourse J in MIA. So does this means that all the airlines from the OW alliance will be in concourse J or it is only LAN?

Tavo

SkyTeam & Star Alliance are moving operations there. LAN may just have ticket counters there.

Thanks for the info....but it doesn't make much sense for LAN to move to concourse J if the concourse will serve ST & *A.
Well i hope they know what they're doing.

Concourse A is closing and Concourse C is being demolished, and there will be a huge gate crunch at MIA in the North Terminal. AA will basically be occupying Concourse D and and E to themselves, there won't be room for anybody else. Concourse D will also be losing some gates (the old gates), as the whole space between Concourse A and Concourse D low gates is being merged into one. LAN will be back to the new North Terminal (Concourse D) sometime in 2009. Alaska, British Airways, Iberia, and Mexicana will also be moving to Concourse D at that time.

Can anyone confirm if Concourse J will indeed open this month?

Yup. 21 August 2007. The first flight using the concourse will be LAN flight 500 from Santiago arriving at 0530.

Can the public attend the opening ceremony?  Big grin

As much as I love MIA, I can't soon enough see Concourse C demolished. It's embarassing for a major airport to have a concourse like that and it should've come down a long, long time ago.

Out of curiousity, will the new terminals have smoking lounges? I'd assume that if the old D gates are coming down, the outdoor smoking area is going along with it and as far as I know, this is the only post-security smoking area in the airport.
