Where Is AA Putting One Of MIA-EZE's 777?

Hi all,

I noticed AA is downgrading one of their MIA-EZE frequencies down to a 763 on Sept. 4th.

AA experts: Are they going to assign this plane to a new/current route, or has the demand for two 777's for MIA-EZE decreased?

Thanks,
 Big grin

Interestingly, one of the ORD-LHR rotations (AA66/99) becomes a 763 as well this winter.

I'm wondering if this is where AA starts to upgrade their J class cabin with the new seats? Because I actually just noticed the 777 for MIA-EZE comes back Oct. 27th.

Regarding ORD-LHR, I'm showing they are operating 1 out of their 5 frequencies as a 763 like you mentioned, but only from Nov 1st until Dec. 1st - after that it remains 4 daily flights with 777's. The fifth frequency comes back March 13th and again, one of the flights will be operating as a 763.

So much for keeping Heathrow a 777-only station...

Actually they are operating 5 flights on some days during the middle of December. Their scheduling for their ORD-LHR runs are confusing me...LOL.

BOS-LHR-BOS (155/156) sees a 763 fom January onwards as well.

This is temporary and happens on MIA-EZE every single year. The second MIA-EZE flight goes back to a 772 at the end of October.

During the fall, AA sends planes in for heavy maintenance checks, so taking two 772s out of rotation allows 772s to go out of service for a few days. Also, AA is ramping up installation of the new business class in the 772s this fall (one has already been converted).

Its amazing how they are pulling out all these 777's on routes that are especially needed for the holidays.

It is not amazing at all. Firstly, winter is the slow period for these routes, not peak, outside of two weeks in December. The capacity is not needed.

In addition, AA is installing new business class seats, and they will be short on 772s this winter while they are installed, so BOS/ORD-LHR will each see a 763 frequency.

However, as of now, two 777s will be needed at the end of April to start up the 2nd DFW-LHR and MIA-LHR frequencies which are planned to start 30Apr08, so those planes need to come from somewhere.

Heathrow probably won't see dedicated 772. It actually wastes a lot of 772 utilization, and if AA moved Heathrow away from an all-777 operation, they could free up the equivalent of three 777s.

I totally agree with you on this one.
