I drove through DFW today and noticed that the old, unused Delta Hanger now has the AA logo on it. Does anyone have any additional information on this? Just interested. Thanks

When DL vacated the hanger, it became DFW Airport property. AA has leased the hanger from DFW Airport. It is now known as AA Hgr. # 5.

I can't cite where this came from, but I remember hearing that it was going to be used almost exclusively for MD-80's MX to free up space at Tulsa, Alliance and the other MX hangar at DFW.

They are going to do galley mods on the MD-80's at Hgr #5 Also heard they are going to do 777 galley mods at Hgr #5 after they get the mod worked out.

I thought I read on here that UPS was going to lease the old Delta hangar for their maintenance?

UPS was looking at the Hanger, one thing that was holding them back was it was on the other side of the airport. They were on and off again. AA finally came in and took the whole Hanger to lease. I have also heard they are going to be doing some of their contract MX work there.

AA leased the hangar from the airport and the airport is paying to fix it up to the tune of $900,000. After all, it has been sitting empty for two years.

That's the plan - to use it for mod work on the MD80s and 777s, and, as others have said, perhaps also do some contract work there.
Quoting Graphic (Reply 7): Is this the building just south of terminal E or is that a different building?
Yes, the hangar across the east airfield from Terminal E and the Delta Logistics building.

I know for a fact they're doing some contract mx at AFW right now. I walked right underneath a VARIG 777 yesterday. There were several of them there. This one was registered N870UA...is it going to United? There was also a Royal Brunei 777 as well.
