Nice to see a new private-jet-like livery on a 747SP.

Does Vegas Sands still have a BBJ and that 767? Cause I recall seing both of these airplanes in the same livery, but I don't know if the L-1011 and SP are replacements or additions to the Vegas Sands Fleet, if their add-ons then that's an impressive VIP fleet! Big grin

I need to go drive down by Koval or by the South Strip to see if I catch the SP, never seen one live, so that'll be something!!!

Pardon my ingnorance, but I am a native of Las Vegas and have never heard of these Las Vegas Sands planes. Granted I haven't lived there for a few years, but are they used for junkets or high rollers? Thanks for the info!

Didn't know about this, had to google it...what a HUGE hotel bldg, I'm sure more than one guest will get lost trying to find the room!

On the topic, the 747SP is such an unusual A/C, I'm happy to see a few still in the air. Anyone happen to know how many SP's are still in service and with whom?

Thanks!

CX Flyboy...Sounds like an incorrect report. The aircraft has not left LAS since arriving two weeks ago. More than likely, it was the 763...The L10's have not been seen at all and maybe getting some work done on them. From what I have heard, there were a whole bunch of AD's that needed to be addressed on these a/c prior to being put in service.

So which Venetian is bigger? The Las Vegas one or the Macau one? I suppose the one in Las Vegas is bigger since they have 4000+ rooms. The Macau one has around 3000 only.

I thought Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok International Airport Terminal 1 is the largest single building!

From what I heard Macau's income on gambling has surpassed Las Vegas's. Can anyone confirm that? But I am sure Las Vegas has a much higher GNP than Macau right?

I have a photo of it in Macau sitting next to their BBJ, 767-300 and two Gulfstreams.

The Macau Venetian is 3 times larger than the Vegas one. The minimum room size is almost 700sq ft, which makes them the size of the average Hong Kong flat if not bigger!!

There is an article in today's SCMP. Macau's gambling has already surpassed that of Vegas and next year is expected to surpass that of the entire Nevada state. The Sands hotel/casino which has been up and running for a while now, recouped the entire cost of building the building and casino in the first 6 months of operations! It's madness.

The Venetian have bought their own S76 helicopters for their own shuttle service as well as 10 new catamaran ferries for services to Hong Kong and other chinese cities. Their intention is to have a VIP aircraft fleet larger than that of Air Macau and with the 747, 763, BBJ and Gulfstreams they are already on their way to it (Although it is shared by the other Venetian and Sands hotels.)

But I am sure Las Vegas's total GDP/GNP is a lot higher than Macau's total GDP/GNP right?

So how does MGM compare to Venetian Macau?

Well Venetian Las Vegas as of the end of the year (if they make it on time) with the addition of The Palazzo will have 7000+ rooms making it the official new World's Largest Hotel, but I guess in terms of Casino Sq. Footage the Macau one might be bigger since the LV Venetian complex is really tight on space.

In any case, I had the chance to see the 747SP the other day from across the tarmac (I was at T2 waiting to board an MX A320) so I was glad I got to fainally see one live!!! Big grin

Cheers!

MGM has somewhere around 6200 something rooms when you include their "Signature" Tower suites, thus making it the current worlds largest hotel. However.. When palazzo at the venetian opens....

So in less then a year, the Venetian Las vegas will be the largest hotel in the world, surpassing the MGM, as well as its Macau equivilant  Smile

Saw all of them on the ramp at MFM this past weekend (but only saw one gulfstream)...I was wondering who they belonged to because they all have the same livery!

Now I know.

And the Ventian Macau is Enormous, it's right next to the airport literally so you'll see it on landing. Huge...
